With a network of 670 Area Agencies nationwide, the Area Agency on Aging is 1 of 28 in the State of Texas dedicated to serving the needs of individuals 60 years of age and older and their caregivers that reside in Andrews, Borden, Crane, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Reeves, Terrell, Ward, Winkler, Upton counties.

Today’s guest was Yovanna Hernandez, Benefits Counselor at the Area Agency on Aging of the Permian Basin Regional Planning Commission, which serves 17 counties in Region 9. The AAA provides temporary services to individuals 60 years of age and over, their families, caregivers, friends, and neighbors at no cost. Programs such as benefits counseling, caregiver support groups, nutrition programs, Ombudsman, and transportation services are available, as well as Care Coordination for older individuals who have experienced recent illness or hospitalization. It’s no secret that Medicare can be confusing. Your healthcare needs can also change over time, and you may wonder, "Who can help me choose the right Medicare plan?" A government-funded program, the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a free counseling service for all your Medicare questions. SHIP provides you with access to one-on-one, unbiased advice from a highly-trained volunteer well-versed in Medicare.
