Spectrum of Solutions celebrates 65 years of empowerment Spectrum of Solutions celebrates 65 years of empowering individuals with disabilities in Midland.
Today we celebrate our 65th Anniversary with a City of Midland proclamation honoring today as "Spectrum of Solutions Day" in Midland, Texas! In July 1959, a small group of Midland parents assembled and formed the organization, today known as Spectrum of Solutions. These parents, as every parent, wanted healthy and prosperous lives for their children. The founders set about changing attitudes and behavior. Today, Spectrum of Solutions has 15 residential homes tucked into neighborhoods throughout Midland and serve over 600 child and adult clients annually through programs and services. It is the vision of Spectrum of Solutions to help change the attitudes and negative stereotypes which are the biggest obstacles to the inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities and to ensure that every individual and family in West Texas that is affected by intellectual or developmental disability has access to the information, advocacy and assistance they need to allow them to participate as active, contributing citizens. From grassroot beginnings, we are thankful for the community support these past 65 years and look toward a more inclusive future.
