Thank you to David Caruso and Adam Steffan for dropping off donations for our patients yesterday! Instead of receiving or giving Christmas gifts this year they asked friends and family to participate in donating clothing and personal care items to our department. They also personally added to the significant donations. New items like warm clothing, undergarments, hygiene products and more are provided to our patients who need them!
We are proud to have served survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence for several decades and will continue to provide easy access to individualized care and services including emergency care, counseling, emotional support and forensic nursing, as well as connecting our patients to comprehensive OB/GYN, integrative medicine, and primary care services for years to come. We are not closing the Healing Center, and in fact, are expanding our services when we relocate from our Bruce Street location in late 2022 to a more accessible and larger space one block away from Aurora Sinai Medical Center at 1022 N. 12th Street. This new location will allow the Aurora Healing Center to serve more survivors in a warm, inviting space specifically designed with feedback from our patients. The center has provided virtual services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Once in the new space, we will offer our patients parking, security and other additional safety measures like social distancing and enhanced COVID protocols, allowing us to safely resume face-to-face services and in-person group counseling.
