This weekend we have a double header! Run Along Forever will be taking over the alley this Friday starting at 8 PM. Then, on Saturday at 7:30 PM, Valerie Lighthart will take the stage after her film is featured at the Cactus Club.

Fun Fact: The photo featured in the back of the flyer was taken during Run Along Forever’s first appearance in the alley (this will be their third time joining us). If you want to be apart of an iconic moment like this, make sure you make it out to both shows this weekend.

Everyone, meet Salai Thawng, the owner and head chef behind our newest vendor Awi Sushi! Salai finds profound purpose in his culinary work by prioritizing his customers. This customer-centric approach guides his dedication in the kitchen, ensuring every dish he creates exceeds expectations and brings joy to those he serves.

Before Salai embarked on his journey as a Sushi chef, he grew up in conflict-ridden Myanmar, where ethnic minorities faced severe challenges, “It was a very tough situation, especially for ethnic people, so we escaped from Myanmar,” he said. When Salai arrived to the US in 2012, he was met with lessons of how to make sushi from one of his closest friends. Since then, he has gained 10 years of experience working with Sushi.

Although Thawng has developed a passion for sushi, his drive for success stems from a deeper motivation. His family, who are refugees living in India, rely on the profits he sends them to stay safe. Despite the hardship of being separated from them, he takes pride in knowing his efforts helped them avoid the difficulties they experienced in Myanmar.
