Join Sarah Filzen from Healium Hot Yoga and Kristina Valenti of Illumination Oracle for a celebration of Spring and an afternoon of meditation, yoga, manifestation and tarot reading! Saturday March 23rd, 1:00-4:00 pm. at our Healium Hot Yoga Bay View location.

This class will not be heated.

In this workshop, we will be working specifically with the fire element — which calls fresh, new energy via the suit of Wands (which indicate Spring in Tarot). Wands often stand for spiritual fire as well as action — so we’ll be drawing up powerful energy from within in meditation, before igniting it with a gratitude practice. Then we'll create a list of intentions to add to a beautiful candle ritual with flowers that will hold and supercharge the energy and intention of each participant. Then we’ll flow through a powerful yoga asana class to imbue our physical bodies with tejas (illuminating fire) and together we’ll call in the energy of inner transformation and manifestation. Kristina will pull a few cards for the group to see what collective energy is on the horizon for spring. A limited number of 6 tarot readings will be immediately available after the event, from 4:00-5:00 pm, and an email will be sent out a few days prior to sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis. A suggested cash donation of $15 will be appreciated for the private reading.

This workshop is designed for all yoga teachers and movement professionals, as well as bendy practitioners interested in learning how yoga and exercise can play a positive role in their lives.

Throughout the weekend, we’ll unpack how common misconceptions about yoga and strength training can often lead to suffering for bendy practitioners (and others) and reflect on important questions: What is yoga about? How can we use its tools for greater understanding, acceptance, and transformation? And, can we understand the bendy body as essentially resilient and adaptable, for a more accurate approach? Each session will include lecture and practice, and there’ll be plenty of time for discussion.

Libby Hinsley is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Yoga Therapist specializing in the treatment of chronic pain, hypermobility syndromes, and yoga-related injuries. Her book — Yoga for Bendy People: Optimizing the benefits of yoga for hypermobility — explores how people with joint hypermobility syndromes can use the tools of yoga to support their thriving. As a person living with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, she is committed to raising awareness about hypermobility syndromes in the yoga community and beyond.

Join Robyn Lucks and Sarah Filzen for Hot Power Yoga training for yoga teachers on Friday March 1st AND Friday March 15th at Healium Hot Yoga Bay View!

Attendees of this 2-night workshop will earn 6 CE credits with Yoga Alliance. Each evening will begin with an hour public Hot Power class led by Robyn (signing up for this event will include a signup for Hot Power on Friday March 1st and Friday March 15th from 4:00-5:00 pm - attendance required as part the course content). The first Friday we will workshop sequencing, cueing and Power elements to create a Power Hour flow. We will also discuss the use of music and incorporating non-traditional fitness elements into a Power Yoga class. Your homework will be to develop a Power sequence, submitted via email for review before we meet again, and after the second Friday's group Power class, you will demo a portion of the class you developed and receive critique and feedback from Robyn and Sarah as well as from your peers.
