We are looking forward to seeing you Saturday, November 4, 2023 for the 39th annual Black and White Ball and want to share some important parking information with you.

There will be no valet parking this year. This is due to a number of factors including several major events in the area near the Baird Center and road construction.
We have secured complementary parking in a parking structure on Michigan Avenue between Vel Phillips Drive (4th Street) and 5th Street. Please see the map below for the exact location. Also look for signage to guide you as you arrive at the parking structure.

We also offer these other suggestions:

Arrive early to secure parking closer to the venue. The doors open at 5:30pm for the Ball. We have several activities to enjoy including: The Entrepreneur Marketplace, the 360 photo booth, karaoke, golf games, and the Entrepreneurship Lounge with special tastings of Molson Coors new Five Trail Whiskey

Consider carpooling with others from your table

Utilize Uber, Lyft, or another car sharing service

Thank you for your continued support of Greater Milwaukee Urban League. We appreciate your understanding.

🎉 Our movement is 113 years strong today! We’re still standing strong in the fight for true justice, equity, and freedom. We’ve come so far, founded in 1910 to support the millions of Black Americans migrating north in search of jobs and opportunities, and we have so far to go, in the face of systemic, sophisticated 21st century challenges.

We’re more than ready, willing, and equipped for the journey ahead. Onward together! ✊🏾✊🏽✊🏿

About us:

Community Service Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.” With her quote in mind, the Milwaukee Urban League Guild offers members the opportunity to do profound work in the community, from volunteering for worthwhile causes to working on community service projects that serve others or fulfill a need. Here are some of the past and present ways in which the Guild gives back to the community: • Read Across America This event, which encourages and motivates students to read, was held at a local Milwaukee middle school and attracted over 70 community leaders and individuals who read to students and participated in discussions. • Annual Healthy Awareness Day Each year, the Guild focuses on a health issue that is impacting the community, such as LUPUS, Diabetes or hypertension. We sponsor and promote awareness of these issues at local venues throughout the community. • BloodCenter of Wisconsin Blood Drive In addition to donating blood at this annual event, Guild members work as volunteers to register individuals to donate blood. • Employment Assistance The Guild supports the Milwaukee Urban League’s Employment Assistance Program by volunteering to conduct mock interviews and coach job seekers on ways to enhance their employability. • Voter Registration and Elections The Guild provides poll workers at the polling site sponsored by the Milwaukee Urban League. • Doing the Right Thing Awards Each year, the Guild provides volunteers for this Milwaukee Urban League event, which recognizes students for their achievement in academics, sports, the Arts and community service. • National Achievers Society Not only does the Guild raise funds to help the Milwaukee Urban League provide laptop computers to deserving students, but we also provide volunteers to help this event run smoothly. • Civic Engagement Guild members are involved in a variety of civic activities, such as the VISION 2050 Workshops undertaken by the Southeastern Regional Planning Commission.
