Overlooked: Who suffers the most from the opioid epidemic in Minnesota? 07/17/2024

Our paramedic, EMT and emergency medical dispatch members see and hear the results of the opioid epidemic every day. We are working in some of the communities most impacted by these overdoses.

Our members have embraced many forms of harm reduction, which are groundbreaking in EMS.
🚑 We have carry Narcan and have Narcan kits to give to community members, thanks to Steve Rummler HOPE Network.
🚑 We carry fentanyl test strips.
🚑 We carry Suboxone for patients in acute withdrawal

State Representative John Huot did a TON of work to get EMS funding and the new office of EMS over the finish line! We appreciate all the hours he spent with us and all the consideration of our members. More great things to come for EMS and organized labor!

So this is really cool, this week is EMS week. Today I was invited to participate in a bill signing done by Governor Walz on the EMS bill that took me six years to get through. This bill will help us in Minnesota stabilize EMS. I’m excited about it. It will change the way we do emergency medical services in the state. Now the real work starts. Thank you Judy Seeberger and the crew on the EMS task force.

Very happy to work with State Representative Dave Lislegard, State Representative John Huot and Senator Judy Seeburger on this historic bill! It’s really not “all” if your founder, Kathy Tunheim, spends her days gutting healthcare for working families at Hennepin Healthcare. Maybe she should step down as HHS board President and focus on her own business?!

Happy New Year! 🎉 As we begin 2024, we look forward to embracing new opportunities, achieving milestones, and fostering shared success. Here's to a year filled with prosperity and fulfillment for all!

01/09/2024

What a complete joke of an organization! They cut employee healthcare, while enriching our CEO and her cronies like Kathy Tunheim. They eliminate slim down clinic and stop covering weight loss medicines.

This is what “privatization” of healthcare looks like: gaslighting hardworking families while enriching corrupt executive. We need to end governance now!

Awesome job!

What a way to ring in the New Year for Paramedics Merrill and Sunnarborg, delivering the first baby of the year at 2:44am 1/1/2024! Using the Jeenie interpretation app, these medics established a great rapport with the family and during transport determined it was time to deliver in the back of the ambulance! Hennepin Healthcare's first in-patient delivery followed soon after at 3:42am. Check out the comments for a short audio clip. Congrats to all! (Stork Award presented by Assistant Chief Ryan Mayfield and Deputy Chief Charles Sloan)

Hopefully they’re not Hennepin Healthcare employees. They just lost $5,500 dollars in 3 hours and 42 minutes! Lovely baby…terrible health insurance 😅

Happy Birthday and Happy New Year to Leslie - our first baby born in 2024! She was welcomed by her parents Ingrid & Walter and team at 3:42 a.m. #2024
