Kia ora from a few of us in IBUS 3019 in New Zealand! Today, we were fortunate enough to visit the Kate Sheppard House to learn about her leadership in the women’s suffrage movement in New Zealand. We’ve been learning so much during this trip, and we can’t wait for more!
IBUS 6403 in Ghana was fortunate enough to be hosted by , where we were able to hear Kim Addison of and Selassie Atadika of speak about their experiences as small business owners in the chocolate industry. We rounded out the day with an INCREDIBLE dinner provided by Crescendo, created by the amazing chefs Rita and Rafiatu with chocolate featured in every course!
Michael at Tetteh Quarshie’s original cocoa farm, showing us how Ghanaian cocoa farmers process cocoa pods into the nibs that are then sent to be turned into chocolate bars. Tetteh Quarshie was the first to bring cocoa to Ghana, smuggling the beans here from Equatorial Guinea. Two of his original trees, planted in 1879 still grow and produce cocoa at this farm!
