Meet the interns who will be working with ISSS this month to welcome new students to the U!
Calling all student groups at the U!
This training aims to equip student groups with best practices for welcoming and engaging new international students. Student group presidents and officers are invited to attend.
Student groups with officers attending this session and adhering to the best practices contract will receive recognition in an email to new international students. These groups will be able to engage in various opportunities provided by ISSS to connect with international students, such as hosting Small World Coffee Hour. Additionally, they will be invited to the ISSS Open House in September and have the opportunity to partner with other ISSS student events throughout the year.

The mission of the International Student Advisory Board is to serve as a consulting body (like an ongoing focus group) to enhance support for the international student community. If you are an international student, passionate about improving the international student experience at the University of Minnesota, we encourage you to apply for a leadership position in the International Student Advisory Board.
All international undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are eligible to apply—no specific prior experience is required.

Mariana Stutzmann, a student from France, currently has an exhibition of her artwork showing at Arvonne Fraser Library in Minneapolis. She is completing her final year of her MFA at UMN Department of Art & Katherine E. Nash Gallery.
The exhibition is titled Women, Spirit of the Place and "highlights the beauty, feminine strength, and emotions often associated with her work with various architectural monuments in Montpellier."
Starting on April 1, 2024, the application fees for several USCIS forms will increase. The forms that are relevant to F-1 and J-1 students are the I-765 (OPT and STEM OPT extension) and the I-539 (change of status and reinstatement).

If ISSS receives your complete OPT I-20 request by Friday, March 15, we will issue your I-20 with OPT recommendation by Friday, March 29, giving you time to submit your OPT application to USCIS by March 31.
