"What a day, and what a season!! 116 volunteers, 16 events, additional work days with volunteer leaders - wow. Today was amazing, with the Biostats department turning out in numbers, plus several return volunteers. We cleared invasives before spreading seeds, then doing the essential wiggle dance on the seeds - great to laugh and loosen up! I look forward to the community-engaged restoration planning ahead, with all of you, and to future seasons of nature care." ~Cordelia P., Lead Steward at the Bluff.

"Thank you for the new perennials for Lynnhurst! It was nice too that MN Native Landscape donated the plants to Parks. I got them all planted before the snow came in. I used the Columbine plants to fill the gaps at the top and bottom of the photo in the Lynnhurst Welcome Garden. I added the Butterfly Milkw**d to the west side of the Lynnhurst Courtyard Pantry Garden to fill a space I had been planting annuals. The Ox-Eye Sunflower, Blue Lobelia, and Blazing Star plants all went on the east side of the courtyard around the Honeyberry shrubs and the espalier apple tree. This continues the gradual transition to native perennials in these areas. Looking good!"

"I dropped off my 15th vegetable donation of the season to Groveland Food Shelf this week. The tomatoes have slowed down for the fall but the kale, collards, and cabbage are doing great. Rabbits have done a number on the pepper plants. They don't like the Serrano peppers but they love the pepper plants.", Amy M. πΆ

Massive π week trash haul. Many thanks to first-time park volunteers from Diversigen for helping out at North MS Regional Park. Hope to host you again!
Garlic Mustard is teeny tiny this time of year β imagine how many plants this volunteer crew pulled to fill all those bags. GM is a threat to biodiversity, it emerges earlier than many native species, forming dense stands that shade and out compete desired plants. Many thanks to team SRF Consulting Group, Inc. for leading the way to a better Brownie Lake Park. π
