We are so excited to welcome the team from FOX4 News Kansas City to Mission on Friday, June 28 as a Fox4 Morning Show Zip Trip destination! We are encouraging residents, local businesses, and friends of the city to join us at the Mission Market site between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on June 28 to help us show the region how much we love our city. You'll get to show how you while watching the live taping. We encourage attendees to wear your Mission pride on your sleeve with any City of Mission apparel you may own too.

We caught wind of a fun, free STEM event for kiddos. The link to register is in the comments - spots are limited so don't wait to register!

It's time for another Dads and Drafts! Join other Rushton dads for an evening of community building and imbibing. Meet up at the Mission Market and then head over to Sandhills Brewery to join in the fun!

At an all-school assembly last week, our classroom teachers recognized five outstanding students from each class who have embodied our school CARES pledge this year. Students were recognized for being Cooperative, Assertive, Responsible, Empathetic, and for practicing Self-Control. These students have demonstrated exceptional commitment to our core values and have set a shining example for their peers. Congratulations students!

Last Friday, our 6th graders commemorated the end of their final year at Rushton Elementary with a graduation celebration. We are so proud of all their hard work and achievements over the years! As they move on to Hocker Grove Middle School, we wish them all the best for this exciting new chapter!

A message from our favorite librarian, Ms. O'Connell:

"Thanks so much to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fairs this year! The money raised was used to purchase new books for every student at Rushton. Last week during library classes, all students were given the opportunity to choose two brand new books to take home and keep! Thank you again for your support!"

Today was Rushton's annual talent show, and 30+ students/acts showed off their talents to their classmates and teachers!

Today, our 6th graders had a fantastic day out at Urban Air courtesy of the PTA! After an exhilarating field trip, they came back and faced off against their teachers in a spirited kickball game. While the students gave it their all, the teachers emerged victorious. To top off the day, everyone enjoyed some refreshing Popsicles. A big thank you to Mission, KS Police for lending us Officer Chudik for the game, and to everyone who made this memorable day possible!

Today Rushton 5th graders participated in one of our favorite traditions - the Wax Museum! Students researched a famous figure, assembled a costume, and presented a speech to museum visitors!

It's SLIME TIME! Rushton students raised over $6,000 for the American Heart Association, and those who raised over $100 got to slime a teacher! Thank you to everyone who donated and to our teachers who volunteered to be slimed 💚💚💚 In addition to raising money, Rushton also signed up enough students for the fundraiser to earn $500 in new gym equipment!

Ms. Thomas and Ms. Graham's 5th graders hit the streets today to deliver May Day baskets to the neighborhood! Such a fun Rushton tradition, and a great way to say farewell to Westwood! 🌸🌼🏵️
