We wanted to reach out to everyone who helped our children and say thank you❣️

An on this, the eve of Christmas, we’d like you to reflect on the joy and hope that the children, you supported, will experience tomorrow, due to your generosity🙏🏼

So now, to share our poem with you🌲

COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS TREE - 2023
“TWAS THE DAY AFTER”

Once again,
the day after wrapping, and all through the space,
not “one” tag was found not even a trace.

Our elves worked so hard to fill all the shifts, so much time is required to process these gifts.
Networking always to find volunteers, hoping for more in the upcoming years.

We hustled and bustled to fill need and wishes, more often with hits, than times with misses. But then we would shop for the items in need and return with haste to complete the deed.

Always envisioning each child to receive, that ‘gift of hope’, so they would believe! There is good in this world; our shoppers display.
We witness their gifting and smiles each day.

Some of them, on our Tree as a child,
return as adults, to shop for a while.
To give to another, whose needs they feel,
And as many said, “those gifts we received were such a thrill”!

We thank all those who helped, with gratitude and love,
and hope that you know, you are blessed from above.

So now, as we settle and give time to our own,
we can look back to say, “t’was a job well-done”.

In looking it over, we rose to great heights.
So we say,
“THANKS TO YOU ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!”

And for those of you, who have selected a child, please, if you can, return your gifts by Friday 12/15 (yes, this Friday). It's the last day of school and if we have your gifts by then, it is very helpful for the schools to deliver them to the children!😇

Come out and join the village of people that have already helped these kids, pick a tag, do some shopping, and knowing in your heart you’ve done something wonderful for a child in need🤗

Last night at the tree, I set of grandparents came out with two of their young grandchildren!👍

They took them shopping for two of our children, and the kids were pretty excited 😍

Then, this morning they came out with two more of their grandchildren and we’re just having so much fun picking out the tags… So rewarding to see them passing on the sense of Giving to their younger family members👏👏👏

Today the F – 100 Club came out to deliver all of their packages for our children🤗

They took 40 tags and had bags and bags of clothes and goodies for the kids… It was wonderful!

All of us in Soroptimist and Rotary, send our gratitude and thanks to each, and everyone of them for their kindness and their generosity!

We are looking for additional volunteers in our Processing Room today (aka Santa’s Workshop) located on McHenry Avenue. If you’d like to help please message us for details 🤗

It's a cold wintery day ahead and possibly for the weekend as well! Stay warm and visit us at Vintage Faire Mall! 😱

Make it a family outting, with time to share and showing your kids how to care for a child who is less fortunate!❣️

Pick a child off our Tree that is the same age as yours, or has the same name and let your kids be your Personal Shoppers! They love it! Maybe a toy🚛 for a little boy or a teddy bear🧸for a toddler!

And all our kids need🧥🧦👟warm clothing!

Half way point update!!!
Only 11 days left! We've had a good response from our Community...but still have over 600 children on our Tree.

With 39 years of giving, and proof that YOUR generosity makes a difference...please read these stories!

Last week we noticed many return shoppers that have selected children from our Tree in the past, making it a Holiday Tradition every year.

And then several first time shoppers…one of which said “this is a great project and I’m a single mom. I've benefited from other holiday giving programs, so I’d like to help out” – she took 4 tags!!!

We also had a shopper with her teenage daughter visit us…she told us that many years ago, all five of her children were on the Tree and had it not been for that, her children wouldn’t have had much at all for Christmas! She remembers how impressed she was that people would be so generous and that’s why she decided to bring her daughter out to shop for a child.

And, this week our very special visit from Elian and his mom! What a wonderful experience it was to speak with them. Now 19 years old, Elian and his siblings were on the Tree when he was in 4th grade. His mom said he's been talking about coming out here for the past several years! As they were reviewing the children's tags, I went over to talk with Elian! He said, "I have a job now, so I wanted to get a tag and shop for one of the kids, cuz I know how it is to be there." Wow, can I tell you how much I respect and admire this young man!

Because our Tree has been providing for these kids for so long, we get the joyful opportunity to see how very much it makes a difference. This is proven, when those that have benefited from being on the Tree in the past, come to "Pay It Forward" later in their life.

We hope our community understands the power of helping these families. It means a great deal to them. Please come out and select one of our children and spread the positive Holiday Spirit! It only takes one and it truly makes a difference!

Thanks to all those who have already paid a visit to us, AND remember to bring your gifts back as soon as you can! School ends on Friday, the 15th, and if you can return with your purchases by the 15th, it would be great! Makes it easier for the agencies and school to deliver the gifts!!

It’s that time of year! 🎄We’re working to make the holidays a bit brighter for kids in our community with the Community Christmas Tree If you’re able to give the gift of time, here’s some information on volunteering!

We had two tags for children that wanted musical instruments. One was a guitar and one was a keyboard.

I am so happy to say that the one who wanted a guitar was selected 👏👏👏

And this couple came out today and they have been shopping for children from our tree for many years. So, thank you to Patty and Jim for your generosity over the years🤗

Jim is a naval Vietnam veteran… Jim, thank you for your service and thank you for being so kind!

Today this young man came out to our Tree to select a tag ... you may want to know why!💕

When he was in 4th grade, he was one of our kids on the Tree.

He said, “ I have a job now and I want to help one of the kids, cuz I know how it is to be there. 🥲

So all of us at Soroptimist and Rotary send you thanks and wish you and your family the very best!

Thanks so much to ALL of you, who have come out to our Kiosk at Vintage Faire Mall and selected one of our children from our Tree!!! AND, we still need more generous people, who will pay it forward, and help a child in need! There are over 1000 children remaining on our Tree and they need YOU! Please visit us, check out a tag, and feel the warmth of this season as you give one of our kids some support and hope for their future! Trust me, your gifts truly make a difference! Every year we have shoppers visit us at our kiosk, and they tell us how their name was on the tree as a child. They say that year those gifts made so much of a difference to their family.
Please know that when you come and pay it forward for one of our children it truly does make a difference in their lives.
Many of our teachers tell us that after the first of the year attendance actually goes up because the children are proud and excited to wear their new clothes to school. Visit us at Vintage Fair Mall on the second level just above Santa and you can make a difference by supporting one of our children.
