Our guest soloists will perform Carmina Burana with the Symphony Chorus at Carmen & Carmina THIS FRIDAY!

Soprano Alisa Jordheim has been praised for her compelling and vocally assured performances in opera, concert, musical theatre, new music, early music, and recital. She has performed with orchestras and operas around the world, has won many awards, and has a dedication to researching and singing in the Scandinavian languages. A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, she earned her Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Voice Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Ms. Jordheim currently resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her husband, David Cohen, who plays Associate Principal Trumpet in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

Critically acclaimed countertenor Thomas Aláan has been a featured soloist on radio shows, album recordings, concert series, and festivals across the United States. He has performed with numerous groups and at festivals around the world and has premiered several new works written for countertenor. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Performance from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Outside of music, he is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach and volunteers as President of the Board of Directors of The EcoVoice Project. When not engaged in any of the above activities, he can be found cooking or feeding his cat, Theobold 😻, shuffling, or playing World of Warcraft.

Ian Rucker is a baritone from Oshkosh, WI. He graduated with his Masters’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music where he was an avid performer. It was at his undergrad at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, that he found his love for the spotlight, performing roles in both Opera and Musical Theatre productions.

All three soloists, plus David Taylor, will be included in Maestro's pre-concert discussion, free to all ticket holders, beginning at 6:15 in the auditorium. They will also be ready to meet everyone at Cookies with Kirk after the concert.

We’ve been told that we are sold out at the Taft Street church for Thursday and Friday. Even so, we have someone who has family coming in that is willing to pay for a ticket that cannot be used. Please contact Joan or Mary if you have one.

This small note is to let everyone know that both Mary Henrich’s and Linnetta Taylor‘s emails have been compromised. Please do not reply to any “invitation“ since that seems to be part of the hack. Be careful out there!
