Be careful do not believe all the things your brain tells you. It's job is to protect you from hurt or criticism based on painful past learning.
I recently realized my inner tape recorder is not just broken but seriously a liar. Consider this example and clearly you will see how painful past learning and experiences shape us.

At 240 lbs my brain said I'm fat
At 190 my brain said Your fat
At 150 my brain said you're still fat
After surgery the lowest I ever saw was 147 and my brain said I was fat.

The other day I weighed 134 and replied to my husband I am still fat. His reply was that's insane. This got me thinking I have not been at this weight since I was 15.
Did I think I was fat at 15? I went to take a bath and cried for more than an hour as my brain began to remind me of many of the most hurtful moments in my life.
I was stood up for homecoming my soph. Year. His excuse was that I was to fat for him. I was 130 lbs.

My freshman year I got a music scholarship for a summer music program. I didn't go as my brain said you have a great voice but you will never make it the music industry isn't hiring short fat girls. I didn't go.

Then I remembered about 7th grade I put on this pair of super cute pin striped Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. I looked so cute. They fit perfectly. I even looked like I had a little butt. (if you know me I have NO butt. ) I ran to show my mom. Her response was horror as she replied" take them off what would everyone think if they knew my daughter fit into my jeans. I was crushed. I was 90lbs.

Even as I was reminded of these things and my brain proudly said see like I said your fat. I had to admit my husband was onto something. In 50 years no matter what weight my brain went to the worst possible scenario to protect me from ever feeling that pain again. But logically I cannot be Fat at 90lbs, 130, 170, 200 and 240.

Yes at 240 I was Fat but really brain you can't come up with a new word to even make it believable. No it didn't have to because I never even questioned it.
Stop letting your brain and painful past learning tell you who you are. What you can and cannot do. Your brain's job is to keep you alive. Happiness and mentally healthy is nowhere in that job description.

Well emergency IV was not on the agenda at all. But starting to feel better

We’re heading into the darkest days of winter - it’s important to self care, even if that’s just getting one thing done in a day.

DEPRESSION TIPS:
Shower. Not a bath, a shower.
Use water as hot or cold as you like. You don’t even need to wash. Just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. Sit on the floor if you gotta.

Moisturize everything.
Use whatever lotion you like.
Unscented? Dollar store lotion? Fancy 48 hour lotion that makes you smell like a field of wildflowers? Use whatever you want, and use it all over your entire dermis.

Put on clean, comfortable clothes.
Put on your favorite underwear.
Those ridiculous boxers you bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? Put them on.

Drink cold water.
Use ice. If you want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.

Clean something.
Doesn’t have to be anything big. Organize one drawer of a desk. Wash five dirty dishes. Do a load of laundry. Scrub the bathroom sink.

Blast music.
Listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. Sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.

Make food.
Don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. Take the time and make food. Even if it’s ramen. Add something special to it, like a soft boiled egg or some veggies. Prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.

Make something.
Write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. Even if you don’t think you’re good at it. Create.

Go outside.
Take a walk. Bundle up if you have too. Listen to whatever birds winter where you are, watch the squirrels, admire whatever lights are in the trees. Go to the mailbox, send a letter, a bill, a card.

Call someone.
Call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. Talk to a stranger on the street. Have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. If you can’t bring yourself to call, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. Even if you don’t say much, listen to them. It helps.

Cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them.
Take pictures of them. Talk to them. Tell them how you feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out, anything.

May seem small or silly to some, but this list keeps people alive.

*** At your absolute best you won’t be good enough for the wrong people. But at your worst, you’ll still be worth it to the right ones. Remember that. Keep holding on.
*** In case nobody has told you today I love you and you are worth your weight and then some in gold, so be kind to yourself and most of all keep pushing on!!!!

Find something to be grateful for!

May I please get 2 friends or family members to copy and re-post? I am trying to demonstrate that someone is always listening.

Just two. Any two.
Say done.
