A big thank-you to our Bike Month Champion Sponsor Spare the Air! Who has two hands and is SUPER AWESOME? Big thanks to The Hub Bike Shop for being Champion Bike Month sponsors this year and for the many and varied ways Keith and his team support and give back to biking in Napa! Thanks also for hosting our Bikefest planning meetings and showing everyone how a tall guy can still be great at bike limbo. 😁
Thanks to for this great coverage of the Bike Lane Sweeper and our commitment to sweep the Imola Bridge!
Huge thanks to Champion Bike Month sponsor the City of American Canyon! The City partners with NCBC in a number of ways to promote biking—a partnership that involves their Police Department, Public Works, Parks & Recreation, and City Council members. Special thanks this year to Mayor Leon Garcia for being a good sport and volunteering to be the target in our game of Tube the Mayor at this year’s Bikefest. 💫🚴✌️
Take Part 2 of our Supporter Survey by July 2!

Maiden voyage of our new bike lane sweeper! Thanks to 50 donors, we picked up approximately 36 gallons of gravel, glass, foliage, and trash from the protected bike lanes on the Imola Bridge yesterday, in addition to two buckets of large item debris. Along with our Board Secretary Joel King, we thank you for empowering NCBC to keep these lanes safe and ridable.
We are still reveling in the afterglow of Bike Month and our gratitude continues. Thanks so much to for being a Champion sponsor! Did you check out the MCE Ebike & Demo Show at Bikefest? We appreciate their direct support, along with the way our missions overlap to better the environment. Thanks for being a great community partner, MCE!
🚨 Action alert for active transportation in California!🚨 We support California Bicycle Coalition's call to Governor Newsom to reverse his proposed cuts to critical funding to the statewide Active Transportation Program, a vital funding source for projects that improve walking and biking conditions throughout the state. You can take action to preserve this funding by using CalBike's email form at the link below - send an email today to help save this funding in the final budget, which will be released on June 15.

ED Kara Vernor had the honor of speaking with filmmakers about cycling in Napa and the impact of the Deaton’s preventable deaths. Check out the new, important series Lives Worth Remembering started by the nonprofit The White Line.
A reminder to drive slowly and cautiously in school zones, especially if you drive a truck or SUV. This first photo was taken across the street from West Park Elementary School. We watched a parent who was driving a truck drop off their child, and then drive off right over this barricade, which was about the height of many of the children who were arriving. It appeared the driver simply did not see it. Trucks have grown larger and less safe for pedestrians, especially those who are children. Please double check those blind spots or consider dropping off outside of the school zone and walking with your child if you drive a vehicle that studies have shown disproportionately kills and injures pedestrians.
With most of our Bike Month activities winding down, we want to get back to thanking the sponsors who made the month possible. Big thanks to Stanly Ranch for being a Champion sponsor and for offering a discount to Napa Bikefest attendees! Stanly Ranch has a host of their own cycling events happening this summer, from free rides, to a Tour de France ride & watch with Pro Cyclist Peter Stetina, to endurance training. Check it out & join us in thanking them for their support of local cycling! https://aubergeresorts.com/ stanlyranch/experiences/cycling/
At the May 21 City Council Meeting, American Canyon recognized May as National Bike Month. This observance recognizes the many benefits of biking, which include: reducing carbon emissions, improving physical and mental health and reducing traffic congestion. Kara Verner of Napa County Bicycle Coalition received the proclamation.
The Napa County Bicycle Coalition is a nonprofit organization that works with local residents, small businesses, industry and elected officials to align our transportation sector with the needs of bicyclists and other active transportation users. They provide important advocacy, help develop safe routes to school and work, provide bike valet services at community events and put on exciting community events like Bikefest and Bike to School and Work Day. Thank you, Napa County Bicycle Coalition, for your dedication in serving our community!

🚲 Bike to Bottlerock! 🚲 we will be hosting our free bike valet parking all three days of the festival at 2nd & Silverado from 11 AM-11 PM! Ditch the traffic and ride on in - don’t forget a lock! 🎶
WOW!!! Thanks to 50 donors, we surpassed our fundraising goal in just ONE DAY—thank you!!
We are thrilled that so many people share our enthusiasm for the unique tow-behind bike lane sweeper and what it can accomplish. We will purchase the sweeper in June, and we can’t wait to get it out on the road—and covered with the names of the donors who made it possible. Will post pics once it’s ready for show.
We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful cycling community here in Napa County. Thank you for being in coalition with us for better and safer biking!!
!
Check out the Bike Lane Sweeper! This model picks up debris rather than pushes it to the side, and it’s amazing! We swept both sides of the Imola bridge, which was in pretty rough shape, in two hours with it. Now we are asking for your help to purchase this unit that was on loan to us yesterday.
NCBC board secretary, Joel King, has launched a GoFundMe to help us secure the sweeper, and we are already about halfway there. Read more about the unit and donate at the link below. Help bring this community asset to Napa! Let’s work together to clean up the bike lanes and rid them of debris.
