The NCC Movie Club now called "Project Re-Connect" is hosting their first (virtual) movie night with the Muslim Student Association on Thursday, October 29th from 6-8 p.m. as a part of Anti-Hate Week! On Monday, October 12th, Project LEAD Ambassadors Julia de Guzman, Guiliano Catalano, and Zaina Abdin did a takeover of the North Central College Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) Instagram page and received over 62,780 views of the content they posted! DATE CHANGE: Project LEAD is hosting a screening of "America to Me" Episode 1 on Tuesday, October 13th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in STAD237. From 6:30-7:30 p.m. we will watch the episode while wearing masks and safely distancing. The room capacity is 12 and we will use a first come, first serve policy. As one of six institutions to receive the Working Across Differences Fund grant from Ashoka U, the College’s “Reclaiming Civility Project,” which aims to foster a cohesive understanding and collective approach to address polarizing topics or events, was supported. A portion of the grant funded movie club dialogue events to help students, faculty and staff discuss polarizing issues regarding race introduced by movies. Fun Friday: Please join us for a Project LEAD virtual call out meeting on Friday, September 18th from 6-7 p.m. Project L.E.A.D. stands for Leaders in Education Advocating for Diversity and all education students are welcome to join. Come learn about our upcoming activities this semester and get to know some of your peers in education. Project LEAD does not require a specific time commitment and you can participate as you are able throughout the year. Activities in the past include movie screenings and dialogue, book discussions, and a meet and greet with NCC alums who are teachers. Elementary Education majors in Literacy II and Assessment/Learning are completing their field experience with students at Smyser Elementary in CPS this semester. Last week the students met their cooperating teachers and organized remote learning bags for the students.
