Pictured is the Ocean Tides Civics class visiting Kent County Superior Court.
The young men met with the Honorable Judge Louis Matos and asked thought-provoking questions regarding the inner workings of the RI judicial system; it was a positive experience for all involved. When the boys were asked what they learned, one boy said, “I didn’t realize how compassionate a Judge could be.”

We share condolences on the passing of a long time Tides board member Br. Robert Hazard who was deeply committed to young people.

His impact at La Salle Academy, Ocean Tides School, Tides Family Services and other ministries has left an enduring legacy of compassion and dedication. His commitment to the well-being and development impacted the lives of many.

May their spirit continue to inspire others to follow in their footsteps and make a positive difference in the lives of young people.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brother Michael Reis, the visionary founder of Tides Family Services. Brother Michael started Tides with a vision to never give up on youth in the community who were left behind by other institutions. Brother Michael's unwavering dedication to improving the lives of at-risk youth has left an indelible mark on our organization and the countless young lives we've touched since our inception in 1983.

His compassionate spirit, tireless commitment, and boundless love for Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children and families have been our guiding light. Brother Michael was a true advocate for children and could be described as relentless when he set out on a path to create change. Brother Michael's legacy will forever inspire us in our mission to offer hope for a brighter future to those we serve. His legacy lives on in all of us and the lives he transformed.

During this difficult time, we remember the profound impact he had on our communities and recommit ourselves to the vital work we do. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brother Michael's family and friends as we mourn his loss.
