🏃‍♀️ Race Recap - Riverbluff Sprint Tri on Aug 11

💥 This past weekend, I did the Riverbluff Sprint Triathlon in Ashland City. 400m swim, 12.1 mile bike, 5K run. We had perfect weather on race day! Sunshine, mild temps and low humidity.

🌟 This was my first time doing this race, and I loved it! It’s a river swim, nice flat bike course and a run with some small hills and some shaded portions. I went out that morning to have fun and was surprised to place 2nd in my age group. Icing on the cake! I will definitely be doing this race again.

🚴 As always, did a great job putting on this race, keeping athletes safe and making sure the race course was well-marked. Sending a big thank you to

🏊‍♂️ The best part of the day was seeing so many friends! I had team mates from BEAT racing, saw some friends from the PT world, and other friends from East Nashville Tri Club, Nashville Tri Club, and Working Triathlete. It’s always fun to hang out with athletes from other tri clubs in the area on race day.

💫 Shout out to all the volunteers at the race, but especially to and for cheering me on! Fun fact, Chase and I met through the LSU Triathlon Club. Now we are both PTs in Nashville. We have come full circle!

💪🏻 Post-race, I was chatting with some amazing women in my age group. They are so strong, so kind, and inspire me to keep working hard. In the triathlon community, we really do lift each other up.

Music City Sprint Triathlon 6/2/24

About four weeks ago, I had an injury. My back and my L hip were really hurting after my half marathon on April 27. I had to miss a race on May 19, and I was bummed about it.

I went to see my friend Lauren Johnson and she helped to diagnose and treat my issues. I rested, I did my rehab exercises, and I trusted the process. And guess what? It worked!

I went into my race on Sunday telling myself to just have fun and do the best I could. Somehow I won my age group. 😱 🎉 💃

I’m sending a big thank you to for guiding me through my injury. Thank you to my tri club for always providing encouragement and great friends to train with. Thank you to Daniel Daunis for always supporting me and for wrangling the boys to come cheer me on at the race.

Thank you to for driving me to/from the race and playing my requested Taylor Swift jams at 5:30am. And thank you to for putting on a great race and keeping us all safe.

If you are interested in doing a triathlon but don’t know where to start, shoot me a message or drop a comment below!

💪🏻 I almost always tell my patients to record their workouts. You can do this on your phone, with an app, or with plain old pen and paper.

🏃‍♀️ This is my half marathon training plan. You can see that I’ve scribbled all over it. There are a lot of sick days on there. And a lot of days that say “kids” which meant I was hanging with the kiddos and didn’t get a formal workout in.

👀 I’m going to race tomorrow. Looking back at my training plan and my workouts helps to give me a good idea of what my race will look like. It helps me set realistic expectations for myself. And I can be proud of all the workouts that I got in! 🎉 💃

⭐️ I don’t think I’ll PR at this race, but I feel good today, so I’m going to go out there and have some fun on the course tomorrow.

⁉️ Who else is doing a race tomorrow?! Drop a comment below!

This past weekend I got to hang out with , and some amazing clinicians in Nashville for the Bones, Tendons, Weights and Whistles course. I learned so much about how to better manage runners with tendon issues and bone stress injuries. I also learned some new clinical field tests, new interventions and tips on how to better communicate with my patients. Best of all, I made some new friends in the running and rehab community! This is a reminder to always keep learning and pushing yourself. And to choose PT first!

Manual therapy. It simply means when a therapist uses their hands to manipulate tissue. Research shows that manual therapy in conjunction with targeted exercises is a highly effective way to treat back pain. Do you have chronic pain or an orthopedic issue? Give me a shout! 615-988-0551 [email protected] or shoot me a DM. 😃

📢Calling all runners! Who wants a quick speed workout that you can do on the treadmill? Here’s what you do…

10 min warm-up
5 min interval (3 rounds)
2 min race pace
1 min fast
1 min race pace
1 min fast-er!
5 min cool down

For the 10 min warm-up, you can either walk or jog. The “fast” minutes should be faster than race pace but sustainable. Remember, you have 3 rounds to get through! You can walk or jog the cool down.

Try it! Let me know what you think!

Do you have pain when running? Or pain afterwards? Want to learn how to be a more efficient runner? Call me! 615-988-0551. Or 📧 [email protected]

This is my leg, getting some recovery love after a long run this morning. I’ve been running a lot lately, and my calves have been feeling tight. Dry needling with ESTIM helps to decrease muscle tension and bring some good blood flow to the area so I can recover faster. Now that it’s done, I feel fab!

Went for a 7-mile run this morning in Falmouth, MA. One of my favorite places to run! So many amazing beach views.

What a great weekend! For the first time ever, I placed first in my age group for an Olympic distance tri! If you live near middle TN, Fall Creek Falls is a great race! Lake swim, rolling hills on the bike course and a beautiful, paved trail run for the 10K. I got to meet and hang out with some amazing triathletes this weekend. Cheers to everyone that raced and a huge thank you to all the volunteers and to for putting on a great race. I’ll be back next year!

Such a fun race weekend! On Saturday, I did the Mountain Lakes Olympic distance triathlon. We had a choppy swim, light rain on the bike course and then a sunny run. It was definitely the most challenging swim I’ve ever done in a race. Overall, Team Magic put on a great race, and the course was lovely. With all of the energy from my amazing cheer squad, I made it to the podium! Thank you to all of my family who came out to support me! I couldn’t have done it without you!

I had a great session with a patient yesterday! She is a runner who is having some knee and hamstring pain. You are looking at the dry needling that I did to help with her knee pain. On the right side, you can see that we did some electrical stimulation with the needling. This is a super helpful technique that produces great outcomes! Are you a runner or a triathlete that is having pain? Call me! Let’s get you back out there, training pain-free! 615-988-0551
