We’re excited to kick off our fall programming with Chat + Chew, a new series hosted on the first Wednesday of every month to introduce The New School’s military-connected community to influential representatives from Veteran Services Organizations (VSO) across New York City! Chat + Chew is a convenient, productive way to bridge connections, find community and foster opportunities for mentorship.

On September 4th, from 12 pm to 2 pm, CMAS will welcome the Wounded Warrior Project () to campus in the Mil/Vet Student Lounge (Fanton Hall Room 528). Snacks will be provided! All military-affiliated students at are welcome to attend.

We stopped by the Parsons MFA Photography Open Studios to see the work of Spring ‘24 graduate and U.S. Army Green Beret Alejandro Emilio Aguirre.

Showcasing a working series titled, Functioning Construction, Formations of Deconstruction — Alejandro’s photography incorporates both digital and analogue, exploring processes within social constructs and the psycho-social aspects of everyday life.

His work encompasses small-family owned businesses, useless and unwanted spaces, and small narratives that reveal the intersection between constructive and deconstructive properties.

Students discussed VA education benefits and how access to academic and housing support has been instrumental in their ability to pursue college and graduate studies in New York City.
