The GASP Diversity and Social Justice Committee will host a weekly virtual book club from June 17th to July 8th, 2024. (More details about specific dates will come out soon.) The purpose of the virtual book club is to create a space for thoughtful conversations on diversity and social justice issues in schools. For the months of June and July we will explore the book “Hacking Deficit Thinking: 8 Reframes That Will Change The Way You Think About Strength-Based Practices and Equity In Schools (Hack Learning Series)” by Byron McClure and Kelsie Reed.
This book club is open to anyone who wants to join the discussion. To get the most out of our discussions, we are limiting the group to 30 participants. Visit gaspnet.org to register.
If you have any questions, please email the GASP Diversity and Social Justice Chair, Kassandra Dixon.

The American Psychological Association is seeking public comments as it considers revisions to the Model Licensure Act. It is imperative our members voice the importance of maintaining the ability for specialist level school psychologists to call themselves
“school psychologists,” in any potential revision of the Model Act.
Submit a comment now advocating for this exemption. The voice of every school psychologist is critical!

As we honor National School Psychology Week, let's remember that continuous growth and self-care are essential for learning and achieving our goals. By nurturing our mental and emotional well-being, we empower ourselves to master new skills, overcome challenges, and reach our full potential.
During National School Psychology Week, we honor the efforts of school psychologists in fostering a nurturing school environment where students learn to identify and appreciate their unique strengths. They guide students in understanding how their individual strengths can contribute to the collective growth and success of their peers.
Through collaborative projects and peer support initiatives, school psychologists empower students to work together, leveraging their diverse talents to achieve common goals. This fosters a sense of belonging, empathy, and mutual respect within the school community.
As we celebrate National School Psychology Week, let's recognize that every student grows in their own way, at their own pace. School psychologists play a vital role in supporting this unique growth, understanding that each child has their own strengths, needs, and learning styles.
They provide personalized guidance, empowering students to embrace their individuality, navigate challenges, and blossom into their full potential.
Let's celebrate National School Psychology Week and the power of diversity. Our unique perspectives and experiences strengthen our communities, creating a tapestry of resilience and shared success. Embrace the richness of diversity and foster an inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. .
As National School Psychology Week gets underway, please take a moment to check out this appreciation video from Bibb County, Georgia!
