Pilates is a great way to work muscles that you might never use on your own. Here our instructor is guiding one of clients who has scoliosis. Specific exercises are used to help balance the muscles of the spine and associated areas. This can help relieve the pain associated with scoliosis.
Pilates is a great method of exercise to strengthen the lower back, which includes the core muscles. Keeping fit and strong helps to prevent injuries, which are one of the major causes of back pain!

Arm springs on the springboard. This exercise is both stretching and strengthening the muscles of the chest and shoulder. Standing exercises are a great way to work on balance and stability while incorporating the entire body.
Being a “mom to be” is a momentous occasion. Unfortunately , it does come with changes that can tax the body. But hope is not lost! Maintaining the prenatal body can help alleviate the aches and pains of pregnancy, keep you fit and help give an easier delivery!
At Restore353 we have developed programs specifically for each “mom to be” to help you have a great pregnancy.
Many people have very tight shoulders due to muscle spasms in the neck and shoulders. This can be due to poor posture, bad work habits, improper sleeping positions…and the list goes on. Sometimes it’s just hard letting go and releasing the muscles going from the shoulders to the neck. Here, Talese or pilates instructor is helping one of our clients to release these muscles. Placing a “squishy” ball under the arm and just trying to “let go” and release these muscles and relax can be very difficult for many people since we hold in a lot of tension. In the 2nd picture we see Talese holding the area that is very tight and trying to get the client to release here. In picture 3, as the shoulder relaxes, she makes sure the shoulders doesn’t go into a rounded posture by keeping the clients shoulders in proper posture. In picture 4, the client finally relaxes their neck and shoulders. A lot of work just to release tension. But remember, stress and tension are the silent killers and we need to do our best to stay as relaxed as possible!
Draw the sword. This is a great exercise for the rotator cuff and deltoid muscles. When performing this on the reformer, it also challenges your stability.
Shoulder and back stretching using the exercise ball. This is a great stretch for those with shoulder tightness and a rounded back posture. It really helps with “opening up” those areas!
Bridging with the roll down bar on the tower. Scoliosis focus. The equipment is helping to decompress the spine and hips while strengthening glutes, hamstrings and abdominals.
Mermaid on the reformer. Strengthens bottom shoulder and oblique abdominals. Stretches top side obliques, quadratus lumborum (all the muscles on the top side of the body, really! ) 💪
Pilates can help bring out the strength that’s hiding beneath! Only you can unleash your maximum potential!
Using the Pilates chair for postal exercises. Here we’re using the chair for resistance thoracic extension exercises. Most people with postural faults lack mobility in the thoracic spine along with a “rounding” of the mid back or thoracic spine. Resistance exercises off the thoracic spine helps with flexibility and improved posture.
Prenatal Pilates-Arm work. It is very important to strengthen the arms and upper body while pregnant to prepare the body for all the activities that you will be doing after giving birth! Visit the video: https://youtu.be/OG-07srVx18.
Many structural problems, including poor posture, and the pain associated with them can be helped by performing Pilates exercises, especially with an experienced and certified instructor. Learn more…..

A good exercise for the glutes, using the reformer, is the scooter. Some pitfalls to avoid is rotation of the pelvis, hips not being level, and not keeping the spine in neutral position but having it in extension. Remember form is everything!
Pilates is great for postural problems. Who doesn't suffer from neck and shoulder problems due to using electronic devices. Many of our clients come in for relief due to pain in these areas.

Many people suffer from neck and shoulder pain caused by poor posture. Pilates exercises can help improve posture thus helping to reduce the pain. Many people have posture with their head pushing/sliding forward and their shoulders rounding. Pilates can help not only improve the CORE, but help the overall posture. Try a session and feel the difference!

Holding the spine in neutral position is difficult enough, try adding arm and leg exercising at the same time! Having a strong core is key, and keeping the lower abs engaged is a must in keeping the pelvis stable. This is a great exercise to try although it may be difficult at first!
Pilates upper body work... The proper form is the key to correctly performing any exercise. Many people think they are doing an exercise correctly, but in turn, are not using the correct form. Doing an exercise wrong is worse than not doing it at all. Having someone to guide you, especially if you are new to a particular exercise or technique can solve that problem.
