GupShup
Gupshup is a bi-level modern Indian hangout inspired by old Bombay. Chef Gurpreet Singh, prior to joining GupShup was the Corporate Executive Chef of Punjab Grill chain of restaurants in India, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and managed around 16 outlets for the brand. Chef Gurpreet was also the Chef De Cuisine of acclaimed Indian Accent in New Delhi during its inception, and his travels and experience with unique techniques at the same time keeping original flavors brings to New York a distinctly original and modern Indian menu.
Renowned bartender Tenzin Samdo, of Cafe ArtScience in Boston, created the cocktail program with a focus on Indian Spices. Samdo grew up in India and was named the city’s best bartender by Boston magazine in 2018. Seth Allen, another flamboyant bartender and mixologist in New York city currently runs the cocktail program and spirits menu at GupShup.
The space features murals and art installations from South Asian artists based in India and US -- a 2-floor dabbawala-inspired tiffin sculpture, a 30-foot decanter chandelier, mural of a beautiful woman hanging out at Marine Drive (Bombay) by Florida based artist Kavi, a 1-ton door imported from an Indian mansion, huge hand drawn tiger mural by a famous painter @ Sonnysundancer. Patrons will cherish hand written signs in English and Hindi, antique suitcases, Gramaphone's, clocks, radio's, cups and trophies belonging to the LoveLaker family all over the 4000 square foot space giving them the nostalgic feeling of being in Bombay...
