Next up in our series, and to close out our celebration of , meet Christian, one of the founders of the city's favorite tacos - LOS TACOS No.1]. Christian, is of Mexican Heritage, born in San Diego, CA and raised on both sides of the border.
The idea for Los Tacos was born when Christian and his business partners moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue their careers in architecture. They were shocked that there was almost no authentic Mexican street tacos in the city, so they felt almost obligated to open a Mexican taqueria for the people of New York. "Everyone should have access to delicious tacos, specially in NYC." Christian told us.
For Christian, the favorite part of his job is that he gets to offer a taste of home to his guests. Not only to the locals of New York City, but also to all the international tourists. "I always tell them, we don’t sell tacos, we sell an experience. The experience of the shack lined streets of Tijuana, where one could find dozens of bright, loud taquerias serving delicious tasting tacos."
Christian believes that there is still a lot of room to improve when it comes to the general public helping the Hispanic community. One of the most important ways people can help more is by involving Hispanic residents in public decision making. "If our voices are not heard then we will continue to find ourselves lost in the limbo of governmental policy."

43rd st. Saw a crowd of people, presumably tourists. Crossed the street to find they were waiting in line for tacos. It was cold. It’s like a storefront behind a storefront. I then got in line. Delicious tacos.

We are very excited to announce that starting tomorrow we’ll be open for contactless delivery and curbside pickup at our Chelsea Market store. You can place your order through our website (link in bio). Times Square, Tribeca and Grand Central are still temporarily closed, but we’ll keep you posted as they open back up.

Although it was a tough decision, we decided to temporarily close all of our taquerias to prioritize the health of our amazing team and loving customers. We hope all of you are safe and stay safe! We will keep you updated if anything changes.

Dear amigos,

In light of the recent global outbreak of COVID-19, we wanted to let you know we've been vigilant and are taking every last precaution in order to minimize the risks for our staff and customers, and have reinforced our health and hygiene protocols for all team members and restaurants. We are closely monitoring and abiding by recommendations and requirements from the NYC Department of Health and CDC, and are committed to the health and safety of our community, our customers and our teams.

As of right now, we're postponing our Grand Central opening (previously scheduled for this week) until further notice. Our other 3 locations remain open for the time being. In the event that any of this changes, we will let you know immediately. We are prepared to respond rapidly to any emerging situation with modified operations, either at our own discretion or as directed by authorities. No matter what happens, these disruptions are temporary and we're confident we will get through this together.

LOS TACOS NO. 1!!!!! Back in college, Kevin and I used to “take a break” from class and ride down to grab an adobada taco or two. It was an absolute honor to take some photographs for them last month 🥰 Thanks so much for having me, !!! 🌮❤️
