With swift medical intervention from doctors at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, along with ongoing care, Michael is now on the mend. But his story highlights the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms and acting fast—especially as stroke numbers rise in people under 50, due to factors such as sedentary lifestyles and diets rich in processed foods.
This Stroke Awareness Month, remember to BE FAST: act quickly if you or someone you know experiences impaired balance, vision loss, facial drooping, arm weakness, or slurred speech—these are signs it’s time to call 911.

Happy National Therapy Animal Day! 🐶🐾
The furry companions at NYU Langone Health’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program are heroes in their own right. From lending a listening ear to providing comfort, these four-legged therapists make a remarkable difference in the lives of patients facing various challenges. Over two decades of research confirms that animal therapy benefits patients, whether it's battling mental health disorders or coping with serious illnesses like heart failure and cancer. We’re grateful for the “pawsitivity,” unconditional love, and support they offer our patients every day!

We are grateful to Senator Chuck Schumer for his generous support in securing a $1.5 million community grant that will help us purchase a PET/CT scan machine for Perlmutter Cancer Center—Sunset Park, bringing diagnostic capabilities closer to home for Brooklyn patients.
Brooklyn musician and producer Ken Rich prides himself on living an active and healthy lifestyle, following pescatarian and heart-healthy Mediterranean diets.
But he knew something was wrong after waking up one August morning in a cold sweat with stomach pain. When an antacid didn’t relieve his symptoms, he sought immediate medical care, and just in time.
Ken was experiencing a “widow-maker”—a type of heart attack where an artery is fully blocked. Cardiologists at NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital were able to clear the clot and place a stent to keep his artery open.
