Gangs back in town! 👨‍⚕️💪 Had a blast catching up with my colleagues and attending presentations at the meeting this past weekend. Time to head home and prepare for more talks and festivities in the Dominican Republic later this month. How was everyone’s weekend?

Take a moment this to stop the small talk and reach out to the people you care about and ask them how they’re doing. Depression is real and if you’re feeling it you should seek help, whether from your loved ones or a professional. When working in aesthetic medicine it’s important to always consider the mental health of our patients. I have an extensive conversation with all my patients to make sure they’re motivated for the right reasons and ready for the changes to come.

Skin between the nose and upper lip lengthens as we age causing our lips to suffer the consequences 👄 While you may have seen this treated with fillers, surgery is often your best option for a natural and long-lasting result. This patient had been using fillers for a few months and was looking for a permanent correction 👨‍⚕️ I performed a unilateral lip lift to help correct her natural asymmetry. This procedure only took 20 minutes and immediately following surgery you could already see more proportionate results taking shape. After two weeks you could hardly tell she had gotten anything done. ✨

Aesthetics start in the waiting room. From art and photography to movies and celebrity media, many of our cosmetic aspirations are subconsciously shaped by these influences. When patients enter my office I present them with the aesthetic that inspired them to walk through the door; expanding the possibilities with examples that will help them visualize their dream result.

When getting reconstructive surgery it’s important to remember that things will get better! Feeling sad or depressed is normal and addressing those feelings is all part of the recovery process. Many patients come to me after getting to treat skin cancer and I always remind them that the hard part is already over. Like this patient referred to me for reconstruction of the wound on his chin. Although there was some redness, I was really happy to see the wound heal with minimal scarring and swelling. While plastic surgery is used to treat cosmetic problems, I found it most rewarding to see him leave not only with great results, but a positive outlook to his recovery. ✨
