✅Start Testing
Recovering from sports injuries, surgery, or any health condition isn’t always simple and straightforward. The human body can easily fall out of balance where problems in one area (pain, weakness, stiffness) can affect other areas.
That’s why you need a professional to test and treat your whole body from head to toe! We are trained in the use of Redcord Suspension System to find and fix any hidden muscles imbalances that prevent you from feeling, moving, and performing at your best.
⭐️Unlock your full potential. DM us for availability on scheduling an initial evaluation.

What is Dry Needling?
by
Dry needling is different from acupuncture, although they both involve the insertion of needles into the skin. Acupuncture is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine and involves the insertion of needles into specific meridians throughout the body to balance the flow of energy. Whereas dry needling is based on modern western medical principles and is used to treat specific muscular trigger points.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Amidst all that is going on, find things that you are thankful for, and focus on those. I am thankful for my family, friends, and the privilege to help those in the Newtown, PA area get out of pain and keep doing what they love to do. Thank you to all the wonderful patients who trust me to help you!
Dry Needling. A wonderful way to stimulate muscle activation and speed up recovery.
Here the needles are in the gluteus medius and piriformis, as well as the L5 multifidi. The glute medius and pirifomis are innervated from the L5 nerve root. This technique “completes the circuit” linking proximal and distal together.
My back felt great after 10 minutes of this!

From Boxing to Breathing: The Many Functions of the Serratus Anterior Muscle
Written by: Dr. Bryan Carestia
What is not so well known in mainstream literature is its role in back pain, neck pain, and respiration. When a muscle as broad as the serratus anterior becomes dysfunctional, many symptoms can arise. The neck may become stiff and painful. The mid-back may have difficulty going into backward bending (extension). The low back may have restrictions going into forward bending (flexion). However, its main culprit may be that the person is simply not breathing optimally. Allow me to explain…

👁THE LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES OF WALKING/RUNNING AND LOOKING DOWN👁
We have become accustomed to keeping our eyes down when walking or running or even when we are just chilling on the couch scrolling through IG! Keeping the eyes down has now become hardwired in our brains because of the use of cell phones, laptops, tablets etc. We no longer look up! There are barely any advertisements on billboards anymore since we now see those ads on our phones. Due to covid, we have become much more accustomed to staying indoors and because of pure and utter boredom , we look at our devices like no tomorrow.
Eyes looking down while walking has tremendous neurological consequences that REFLEXIVELY ruin our postures, our muscle tension and even pain levels.
When eyes look down, a portion of the brain called the Midbrain is being activated via 2 nerves located within it called the Occulomotor and the Trochlear Nerve. The nerves are responsible for looking close and down. Once the midbrain is activated for long periods of time with eyes looking down:
• The sympathetic (fight or flight) nervous system is kept on high gear. The sympathetic nervous system LIVES or at least STARTS in the midbrain
• Flexor Tone increases giving you rounded shoulders and upper back
• Ruins Upright Posture
• Decreases posterior chain musculature activity: decreased hip extension, altered arm swing
• Increases breathing challenges due to stress on the diaphragm
Imagine now what the after effects of all this can do when you're not running such as stress and anxiety throughout the day, poor sleep quality, poor recovery from training, etc.
So it may be a small detail to you but BIG when it comes to the nervous system and human performance!
Next time you go for a stroll or get a sweat in, LOOK UP!!! Keep those eyes in the horizon!! Breath through your nose ONLY no matter how hard it is, it's a habit that needs to be trained.

Dry Needling is a excellent addition to any treatment. Here we are working on stimulating the rotator cuff muscles to reduce shoulder pain and increase strength and function.
Dry needling the lumbar multifidi and corresponding muscle from that level. In this case L3 and adductors to address low back pain and tingling/reduced sensation into the foot.
Adding e-stim helps further stimulate and give input to the desired muscles. Follow that up with muscle retraining and watch function improve!
Now offering Dry Needling in Newtown!
Dry needling is a great modality to stimulate muscles that need some help to find ruin the way they’re supposed to. It is safe, effective and feels great!

Raise your hand if you love deadlifting! 😁 Raise your hand if you’re afraid of deadlifting. 😣
I hear many conflicting opinions from my clients about deadlifting- especially for those with a history of low back pain. If you’re able to dead with good form, it is a terrific exercise for strengthening the posterior chain of the body (especially the glutes and hamstrings). That being said, many people rush through the set up, feel pressure to load up the weight, or have just never been taught how to execute this movement pattern.
Using a dowel, swiffer, golf club, etc. along your back is a simple tool to give you feedback that your spine is staying in neutral. By keeping the three points of contact, it will ensure that your deadlift movement comes from the hinging of your hips and not the rounding of your back. Give it a try as a warm up before leg day or as a part of your rehab program.
Save for later or tag someone who could use this!

💥New on the Blog💥
By Activcore Co-Founder: Tyler Joyce
As a physical therapist, testing has been ingrained in me since PT school. I learned that the initial evaluation process should involve testing of specific parts of the body, such as the joints, muscles, and nerves. The results of these tests would then play a role in guiding my treatments. Basically it gave me a starting point.
While I knew that assessing was important, I had no idea that it would eventually become a game changer when it comes to clinical outcomes. "Testing and retesting" is something I now do with every client at every session. In fact, I often do it in between every exercise and manual therapy technique administered, so that I can check how the client responds to each intervention. This information is vital to their success.
