Vivid Women's Health
Women’s pelvic floor physical therapy to help women overcome leakage and pain.
Estrogen makes ligaments more stretchy!
Lack of estrogen makes your ligaments more stiff. AND can also dry out the vaginal tissue and thin out the pelvic floor muscles.
It is NOT a fluke if your symptoms change with your menstrual cycle!!
Another reason just giving a list of exercises will only take your symptoms so far! It’s important to investigate ALL the things that could be contributing to your symptoms. And sometimes, it takes a few weeks and a full menstrual cycle (or a few!) to really notice trends in symptoms and symptom resolution!
We are looking for a part time office assistant! Please send resume to Jenn if you are interested!!
There are many reasons that you might be experiencing bladder urgency!
This is why we cannot just hand our patients a worksheet of exercises and expect their symptoms to go away: Each person’s cause of urinary urgency is VERY different.

A little PSA about l**e!
If you struggle with frequent infections: UTIs, yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, etc check your l**e for glycerin!
Glycerin = sugar…bacteria ❤️ sugar.
Also, make sure you call us if you are struggling with recurrent UTIs.. it’s likely your pelvic floor and we absolutely can help you problem solve through it!
We know this one might hit some people hard..
As pelvic floor therapists, fitness professionals, and birth workers, we are overdiagnosing diastasis recti.
In our attempt to educate, we’ve actually created a situation where postpartum women are viewing a normal postpartum belly as one that MUST have a diastasis because “it still looks like I’m pregnant”
There is so much that goes into the appearance of the abdomen and it isn’t always a muscle separation problem. Sometimes it’s excess skin, sometimes excess fatty tissue, sometimes it’s the way you are standing, and sometimes it’s the way you are recruiting the muscles.
Why is this a problem? Because women are viewing their belly as something that needs “fixing” and many times that isn’t the case. In the case of increased fatty tissue, thinking you need to increase core exercise will lead you down a path of frustration. This is because we can’t isolate fat loss.
Core exercise is amazing for improving core and pelvic floor function, but we all need to have realistic expectations of why we work out, and what a strong core looks like.
You can’t always exercise your way out of pelvic floor dysfunction- meaning you can’t always just add a single exercise or collection of exercises and expect your symptoms to go away!
Sometimes it’s more about..
☀️ Your habits
☀️ Your stress
☀️ Your thoughts about your condition
☀️ Your mental and emotional status
☀️ Your sleep hygiene
☀️ Your nutrition
☀️ Your hydration
☀️ Your feminine care hygiene
… and more!
This is why, you can’t just come to an evaluation and expect some exercises and be on your way..
There’s so much more to your condition that just “we need to do some strengthening” or “we need to do some stretching”
Sometimes, exercises are all you need. However, many times we have to investigate other contributing factors to your symptoms and these things TAKE TIME to not only investigate, but to improve!
Been trying all the exercises and no relief? It might be deeper than you think. Call us to chat and see how we can help📱 267.685.6368

Be really careful when choosing your provider!
“Pelvic floor therapy” is a trendy buzzword that seems like it is popping up everywhere. It isn’t protected meaning that anyone can say that what they are doing is “pelvic floor therapy”. This means there is no governing body regulating licensure and continuing education requirements.
True pelvic floor therapy is done by a licensed physical or occupational therapist- both of which are licensed providers that specialize in improving how muscles and joints function.
Physical and occupational therapists have governing bodies regulating licensure and continuing education requirements.
If you are getting “pelvic floor therapy” please verify the credentials of the person providing said therapy.
PTs and OTs spend 4 years of undergrad and 3 years of graduate school studying movement, function, exercise, manual treatments, lifestyle factors, and more.
A tech with a biofeedback unit at your providers office is a very different form of pelvic floor therapy than that with an actual pelvic PT/OT.
Pelvic floor therapy is a stand alone service that requires years of training and continuing education to keep up to date with research and best practices. It is not a trendy, addition/supplemental service that should be offered to a medical office.
To find a qualified provider near you, please reach out!
We have a Vacation Day on Monday June 17th!!!
Our office is closed that day and we will resume normal hours on Tuesday!
I know the word “pelvic floor” makes it sound like we only focus on the muscles of the pelvis and pelvic floor…
HOWEVER!! Pelvic floor PTs are THE experts in core rehab.
The deep core and pelvic floor are neurologically linked, meaning you can’t use one without the other. Therefore, if you are looking to get the most out of your rehab, stick to seeing a pelvic floor PT vs. a traditional PT!

When we start viewing C-Sections as major orthopedic disruptions that are worthy of rehab, wonderful things will happen.
Until then, women will continue to think their symptoms “came out of nowhere” a few years (or even less) after their C-section and then will be told that their symptoms are the response of them “getting older”. This then leads to the downward spiral of activity changes and women stopping and significantly changing their exercise routines which doesn’t fair well for them as they begin to enter perimenopause.
Instead of women developing back pain, hip pain, core weakness, painful in*******se, pelvic floor dysfunction years after C-section, can we all agree it’s better to get good rehab from the get go and teach women how to move and how to use their body to prevent these issues?
Let’s start worrying about the future today, and PREVENT these problems from occurring in the first place!
It National Running Day! 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏽♀️🏃🏿♀️
If you decide to get out for a run today remember:
1. You should NEVER leak when you run
2. You need to get strong to run, NOT run to get strong
3. Trying to kegel while running is virtually impossible and isn’t the answer if you are struggling with pelvic floor symptoms while running
Are you a runner struggling with pelvic floor symptoms? Give us a call and let us help you run without needing to run to the bathroom!

Worried about prolapse? Working with a pelvic floor expert is key to preventing it!
Pelvic floor PTs are experts in movement and pelvic floor function. Prevention of prolapse requires protecting the pelvic ligaments through strong pelvic floor muscle recruitment and ensuring good mechanics when lifting, squatting, toileting, and simply living life.
Prevention of prolapse should start when you don’t have symptoms!
We are searching for our next PT, ready to help women overcome pelvic floor dysfunction!
Please send your resume to Jenn!
If you have been diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse, be rest assured that nothing is actually wrong with the organs, but rather with the support to the organs!
Having prolapse doesn’t mean that your organ is damaged!
This comes to be important when people think taking the organ out will take care of the prolapse… maybe temporarily but that doesn’t mean forever!
Questions about prolapse? Give us a call! 📱 267.685.6368
This is your okay to get rid of certain stressors in your life: whether that be people, unwanted activities, or unnecessary household duties.
There are certain life stressors we cannot get rid of: being parents, our job (although sometimes we can!), and curveballs life throws at us (a sick child, or a child with special needs). In these situations, our room for additional stressors is at an all time low..
It’s okay to say no to the dinner party, it’s okay to not sign your kids up for activities, it’s okay to distance yourself from others, all for the sake of managing your own stress!
We talk about stress management all the time with our patients because it plays such a crucial role in pelvic health.
Here is your daily reminder to rid yourself of the stressors you can control!
There’s so much more to the pelvic floor than your ability to squeeze it!
We love to investigate your habits, postures, and general movements your body likes to fall into and see what changing that does to your symptoms!
We also must investigate how your feet, ankles, hips, ribs, and every other body part moves because no part of us moves in isolation!
Did your pelvic PT consist of only kegels and biofeedback? Try something different! Give us a call 📱 267.685.6368
