CASA of Clackamas County works closely with from the Clackamas County Dependency Court to ensure parents, attorneys, DHS, service providers and the court fulfill their responsibilities to the child. However, CASA of Clackamas County is an independent agency with separate roles and responsibilities to the children we all jointly serve.
What is a CASA volunteer? Court-appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteers advocate for the best-interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
Volunteers work with child welfare professionals, educators and service providers to ensure that judges have the information they need to make the most well-informed decisions for each child.
CASA of Clackamas County has 142 active volunteers serving 258 children in foster care.

Our 12th Annual Golf Tournament was a HUGE success! Thank you to everyone who supported us and came out for a fun day of golf. With your support, we were able to raise $62,487, which will provide advocacy for 35 Clackamas County children in foster care for a whole year! π

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month! π
Did you know? According to a Child Trends report (2020), children and youth with special health care needs enter the foster care system at higher rates than their peers without special health care needs and tend to have different experiences within the system. At CASA of Clackamas County, we're committed to advocating for ALL children in foster care, including those with developmental disabilities.
This month, let's raise awareness, promote inclusion, and advocate for the unique needs of children with developmental disabilities. Every child deserves a safe and supportive environment to thrive. π
On any given day, 408,000 children are in the foster care system. Children of color are placed in U.S. foster care at higher rates than the national child population. It is estimated that 37.4% of all children β and 53% of Black children β experience a child protective services investigation by the age of 18. (NIH)
Black children are overrepresented in the foster care system. As we observe Black History Month, CASA of Clackamas County continues to be committed to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, working within our program and with other local programs to educate and reflect on the diversity of the children and families we serve.
