Knowing the stress teachers go through during back-to-school season, FSC recently completed a school supplies drive for Scraps KC and their Teachers Resource Center. Our staff donated 45 pounds worth of notebooks, markers, crayons, pens, pencils, backpacks, and other supplies. Thank you to everyone in the FSC Family for participating in the drive!

FSC provided the MEP design to get the existing building ready for a new life as Bikanervala's first franchise in the Midwest!

📢 We have an exciting update to share! As part of our ongoing commitment to minimize our environmental impact, FSC is pursuing Energy Star certification—and we’ve brought on an intern to help us make it happen. Menaka Garapaty, our Environmental and Sustainability Intern, is working directly with our Director of Positive Environment to help our headquarters achieve certification.

As an environmental engineering major, she cares deeply about sustainable infrastructure and finding ways to make energy processes more efficient. We’re so glad to have Menaka on board and excited to dive headfirst into the process of getting our building certified.

Members of our fire protection and code/life safety team attended the 2024 NFPA Conference in Orlando this week! Our team was able to soak up key industry insights in the form of educational sessions, presentations, and more. We are always excited to discover new ways the industry is innovating so we can better serve our clients and ultimately, help keep buildings and their occupants safer.

Meet Medha Goli, a rising senior at Blue Valley West High School—and our newest YEP KC Intern! Medha is honing her skills in coding and is passionate about tennis, tutoring, and dance.

🏈 🎉 We may not play college football, but FSC is still thrilled to be a player in the ongoing transformation of MU Memorial Stadium's north-end zone with DLR Group! Their vision for the new North End Zone, including new premium seating for 2,600 fans, was just released.

Focusing on the future and longevity of the systems we design comes naturally, but we rarely get the opportunity to directly cultivate the future of our industry. Today was one of those days. FSC had the pleasure of hosting a job shadow experience for a group of students from Belton High School.

Our staff were able to share their work and projects, explain what they do every day, and answer students' questions. We hope they left today with a fuller understanding of the engineering and design field.

Three of our engineers spent two days touring Victaulic headquarters in Easton, PA to see their manufacturing and product development facility firsthand, giving us insight on new ways to provide value to our clients. We also had the chance to speak directly with product developers to discuss how we use sprinklers in special applications and explore opportunities for future developments to meet these unique needs.

In addition to all the exciting things our engineers saw and discussed at Victaulic headquarters, there was still time for foodie fun around Queens with Spreadlove Tours.

Today is International Women's Day, but the commitment to excellence from our female staff is 24/7 all days of the year. FSC simply wouldn't be where it is today without the hard work and leadership of many capable women.

We're proud to be a woman-owned business with fantastic female staff both in the U.S. and our international office. (a special shoutout to Jolly D'souza, our Operations Manager in India!)

Did you catch our CEO at the "On The Rise" conference this morning? Sonia gave her insights and advice on a panel discussing navigating business leadership in a male-dominated industry. This event was a great resource for women in the AEC industry. Thank you to the organizer, Erica Jones, and the Kansas City Area Development Council for making it happen!

Last week our staff at FSC headquarters had a full week of exciting events, from a breakfast buffet to an in-office happy hour with custom t-shirts. Thank you to everyone in the office who pitched in to make this Engineers Week one to remember. 🎉🙌 Until next year!

From upscale apartments to county courthouses, every iconic building you know had to be planned, designed, and evaluated by an engineer to keep it safe, secure, and operating properly. This Engineers week, we want to shout out the critical work of FSC's team of engineers.

Often our work is paradoxical--engineers must be both creative problem solvers while also keeping safety codes, standards, and regulations at the front of their minds. When we design systems, we aim to achieve innovation and practicality simultaneously. It takes a special kind of person to be an engineer.
