is making great progress on Heartland Logistics Park Building 3! The 850,000 square-foot shell is nearing completion, and interior framing is scheduled to start soon. PMA Engineering is proud to partner with and H2B Architects on this project.

During recent onsite collaboration, Justin Kunkle, P.E. was inclined to put PMA Engineering’s wall speaker mounting plate prototype design to the test. By all accounts it was a success!

Last week PMA Engineering spent time volunteering at the Blue Valley CAPS (Blue Valley Center for Advanced Professional Studies) Engineering Kickoff event intended to give high school students a better understanding of the vast array of engineering-based career possibilities available. We enjoyed speaking with aspiring engineers, sharing information about PMA, and explaining what it means to be a structural engineer!

Here at PMA, Back To School doesn't mean new notepads and clothes...... It means our summer interns, Amy and Madeline, are leaving us! The summer has flown by, but we hope you had a great time learning and doing things you've never done before - like chain dragging! Best of luck in your last year at KU!

Cheers to Frank! He is California bound!

We sent Frank off with a Beer & Ice Cream Thirty today! He's not leaving us - he'll just be working remote from a different zip code.

Frank, we'll miss seeing you in the office everyday, and laughing at your funny stories, but we're so happy for you and your family's next chapter on the west coast!

We had two birthday's this month - Karen and Frank's. It was Karen's 60th b-day so we have to have a special balloon to go with the monumental event! Happy Birthday to you both!

There's nothing quite like installing the products we specify in our designs! This week, we were fortunate to have Hilti visit our office, giving us the chance to explore and test their wide range of products, from post-installed anchors to powder-actuated roof deck fasteners!

Did you know that many sidewalks in downtown Kansas City have occupiable space beneath them? These areas, known as sidewalk vaults, are usually accessible from the basement of the adjacent building. However, occasionally when a building is demolished, sometimes only the vault remains. PMA recently made a site visit to observe the structural integrity of one of these vaults.

Our two summer interns, Amy Brown and Madeline Jonscher accompanied Chase Watkins on a site visit to one of our projects in North Kansas City. The Contractor was placing concrete footings during this site visit. The heat was on, but our engineers kept their cool.

PMA treated everyone to a fun, relaxing afternoon at the K! This was a very special day organized for all employees to take some time off from their hard work, and build some Royal's spirit outside the office.

To top things off, we watched the game in style from an All-Star suite. The suite provided a fantastic view of the field, spacious seating, food and drink, as well as indoor and outdoor space. It was a different experience from just sitting in an assigned seat at a stadium. Everyone was able to move around inside and outside, visit with everyone, and just truly relax in a great environment!

The only way to make things better would be for the Royals to win - which they did! The 8th inning gave way to some serious cheers from our group. It was a good day!

Last week, the PMA Interns ventured out of the office to discover and appreciate the many attractions Kansas City has to offer. They participated in a scavenger hunt hosted by the Center for Architecture & Design Kansas City and attended KC 101, sponsored by Team KC at Children’s Mercy Park!

We had another milestone birthday here at PMA, and not just any typical birthday balloon will do! Happy 60th birthday Sheila!!

PMA Engineering recently completed observations at Attain at Bradford Creek, a new nine building, 350-unit, multifamily development in Huntsville, AL. Construction is wrapping up and leasing is well underway. Check out the progress below!

PMA Engineering was thrilled to support a fantastic cause at the 15th Annual Lickel Architecture Classic Golf Tournament last Friday! The Kids with Courage Foundation aims to "provide opportunities that empower, educate, and create positive outcomes in the lives of children of all ages and their families, whose lifelong journey includes battling Type 1 diabetes."

Jeff and Amy Brown, our summer intern from KU, spent the morning recording elevations of an infinity pool overflow edge at a residence in Leawood, KS. It was a great day for outdoor work!

The weather didn't allow us to hang outside for our yearly Ponak's Mexican Kitchen afternoon, but nothing stops us from enjoying the afternoon, great food, and getting some needed relaxation time!

It's officially summer, and you know what that means?!?!?!? Summer interns, and we're fortunate to have two this year! Welcome Amy and Madeline, both KU students. Looking forward to learning from them, and maybe teaching them a thing or two!

Heartland Logistics Park Building III has started going vertical! Brinkmann Constructors is doing great work! All 850,000 square feet of slab have been poured, and more than half of the tilt wall panels are complete. Steel er****on is in progress and tilt panel er****on is scheduled to begin this week. PMA Engineering is proud to partner with Hunt Midwest and H2B architects on this project!

Kansas City was a recent host to a momentous assembly, where the foremost CEOs of seven prominent national professional design organizations convened for the D7 Summit. Among the distinguished attendees were CEOs representing the American Institute of Architects (AIA), American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), American Planning Association (APA), American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and Society for Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD). PMA is honored that this landmark event took place at the esteemed Cascade Hotel, Kansas City, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel.
