Enjoy a well deserved break, have a safe and fun Labor Day!
John Knightly, Austin Quick, and Ed Guernsey attended the 21st annual Head for the Cure 5k this past weekend to help raise awareness and support for those fighting brain cancer. It was a gorgeous morning for the event. Austin’s band, Carswell & Hope, performed before and after the race. This year’s Head for the Cure included more than 5,400 participants, raising over $615,000 and still counting!
Krista Brodersen, Senior Project Manager, attended the 2023 Brownfields Conference in Detroit last week. This conference was a great opportunity to connect with EPA Region 7, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, and Kansas State University Technical Assistance to Brownfields (KSUTAB), and others.
Krista attended multiple training sessions, KSUTAB karaoke, and a cruise on the Detroit Princess Riverboat. Looked like a great time!
Maren, Andrew, and Bella are wrapping up their summer internships with Blackstone. Today they were in the Overland Park office presenting a recap of their summer projects, memories, and lessons learned.
We were thrilled to have all three of these individuals with us this summer and wish them the best as they head back to college this fall!
Kyle Kukuk and Austin Quick participated on a team at the Hamm Foundation, Inc Golf Tournament this past Monday and beat the heat on the golf course.

Zack joins Blackstone in our Overland Park office as a Project Engineer. Zack has a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Kansas.
For the past two years, Zack has been working in the Ecohydraulics Lab group at KU focusing on investigating how urban land use affects sediment connectivity across five watersheds in Johnson County, Kansas and utilizing linear regression to estimate bridge load ratings for bridges without plans across Kansas and establish adjustment factors to account for bridge structure degradation over time.
In his free time, Zack enjoys spending time with his wife and friends, practicing martial arts, powerlifting, playing video games, and playing the bass guitar or violin.
