Light Bringer Project
Building community through the power of art and education.
We had an incredible ACI Day on October 15th 🦅 9-12th grade students who are a part of the Academy for Creative Industries engaged with workshops led by professionals in the workforce 🎭🎨🎬 Each professional is a part of the creative industry of today and offered practical skills, tools, resources, and advice for students pursuing a similar career pathway. We are so grateful for our connection and partnership with Marshall staff, students, and workshop leads.
A special thank you to .pisano for leading a workshop!
We are one week away from ✨ Join us on Friday October 18th from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at our special outdoor location 🏡 Come experience the art work of Matthew Silva and storytelling of Zoot Velasco
Thank you for sharing your story and artwork with students .camad.vada 🎨 It was so inspiring to hear the ways community can uplift and open doors for folks, especially aspiring artists. We honor your gifts, time, and resources for our students!
We are so lucky to have strong team members who can speak so eloquently about the good work we do in local schools. Thanks Pasadena Media for platforming us and creating a space for organizations like ours to shine!
This Friday the 13th meet our Room 13 Artists-in-Residence! They are invaluable to our team and mission, and support our students’ creative endeavors by cultivating safe spaces in which they can explore their inner artist! Room 13 is supported, in part, by a generous grant from Pasadena Tournament of Roses Foundation, along with Pasadena Arts League, PUSD and other local contributors 🌎🎨
The heart of Light Bringer Project is to build the creative workforce of tomorrow. We do this through our year-round arts & education programs in Pasadena and the greater Los Angeles area. We serve students at the Elementary, Middle, and High School levels and they mean the world to us!
One of the most important aspects of art is the way that it brings the community together. We are always excited to put together the kind of local events that do just that! We strive to platform local artists, inspire would-be newcomers, and enrich the lives of art lovers. Whether it’s Doo Dah, Chalk, or Lit Fest, our goal is always to celebrate the beauty of artistic expression 🎨
Light Bringer Project would be nothing without its people! We are grateful for the unique leadership and creativity that this team fosters
We hope everyone had an amazing summer! Between our iconic Pasadena Chalk Festival, hosting our summer interns, and preparing our media relaunch, we here at Light Bringer Project have had an eventful few weeks. Keep an eye out for all the exciting things to come your way! ☀️
A big thanks to American Dream Network for their wonderful footage of the Pasadena Chalk Festival. This event ensures that local artists can make connections with their community and showcase the artistic process in a public space. The American Dream Network has truly captured the elegance of the historic Pasadena Civic Auditorium. We are so grateful for the folks from Visit Pasadena who ensure that this cultural event endures and that Pasadena locals can appreciate such a unique art event.

Incredible time at the 31st Pasadena Chalk Festival Artist party! We had an absolute blast and got to celebrate Cynthia Lake who’s retiring after 3 decades as an art teacher and mentor at John Muir High School. Many of her students are now successful artists still chalking because of her. We are feeling inspired and ready for happening TOMORROW!!! 10 am! See you there at the Pasadena Convention Center for this amazing FREE event!

Our own Art Director, Bianca Ornelas, meeting 3 artistic women—Coordinator, Gemma Paris Romio at “Especial C” (a Room 13 transformation) in Barcelona, Spain, this week 🤩Pictured with their Artist-in-Residence and assistant. Sharing experience as teaching artists and Room 13! Amazing ways art brings us together 🙏🏻
Light Bringer Project was so grateful to receive a generous grant for Room 13 creative studios for the coming school year, from the Tournament of Roses Foundation! The award was accepted by Jessica Lopez, our Program Manager and Tom Coston, president of the board, who was also in attendance. Congratulations to all our cohort nonprofits who were there receiving awards. It was a true Pasadena treat to be in the Tournament House among all our friends in the community who do such important work.
Please help support Allie Shehorn. ❤️
We are so happy to welcome Natalie Lydick! Natalie oversees the production of Light Bringer Projects’ free and public events, which include LitFest in the Dena, the Pasadena Chalk Festival, among others. She also assists with Locavore Lit online literary journal, visiting authors programs, and manages other special projects under development. Natalie is a graduate student in English at Cal Poly Pomona. She is a writer of speculative short fiction and poetry, intermittent sax player, and spaghetti lover. She is already making a difference, and we are so lucky to have her join our team!
ITS ALL HAPPENING! Don't forget to pick up your canvas! We are SO excited about this years festival and are going down memory lane with all of the amazing art. Please remember to tag us in throwbacks and new chalk creations!
