The Laurel Foundation

The Laurel Foundation serves hundreds of children, youth, and their families living with HIV/AIDS, and transgender/gender-diverse youth.

The Laurel Foundation's programs provide opportunities for participants to build a social support system with peers, develop special bonds with adult volunteers who serve as crucial role models, and learn important life skills. This serves as the foundation that supports social and emotional development, boosts self-esteem, builds trust and helps participants identify their strengths and achieve personal goals

FOUND!

07/07/2024

Please keep a look out for Lelah. She is one of our youth that is missing. We believe she may be on skid row. Last seen on July 5 at 7:50am on Sunset Blvd. We believe she is now near 6th and San Pedro. Please call 911 of you see her.

Urgent Update: Understanding the California Ebony Alert and the Dock Ellis Foundation's Immediate Actions!

In a tremendous turn of events, we are elated to inform you that within hours of the Dock Ellis Foundation getting involved, Lelah Cyan Banks has been safely located. This rapid resolution underscores the critical importance of understanding and utilizing the California Ebony Alert system, especially in urgent situations involving missing persons from minority communities.

The California Ebony Alert is a pivotal tool designed to ensure that missing persons, particularly from underserved and minority communities, receive the attention and resources they deserve. At the Dock Ellis Foundation, we are committed to bridging the gap and ensuring equal treatment for all missing persons, regardless of their background. When we heard about Lelah's case, we knew immediate action was necessary. We worked tirelessly to activate an official CHP Ebony Alert, amplifying search efforts and leveraging various communication channels to maximize visibility.

Our mission is clear: no family should endure prolonged waiting periods for proper alerts when their loved ones go missing. We believe in the power of community, unity, and compassion.

Your support has been invaluable in these efforts, and together, we have made a significant impact. By sharing official alerts and rallying behind families like Lelah’s, we can generate widespread awareness and engagement, increasing the chances of safe reunions.

Thank you for standing with us and for being an integral part of our collective efforts. Every action counts, and together we can make a difference.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! 🌟 Let's come together to support one another and raise awareness about mental health. It's essential to take care of our minds just as much as our bodies. Check-in on your loved ones, listen without judgment, and offer a helping hand. Remember, it's okay to ask for help, and you are not alone. Together, we can break the stigma and create a world where mental health is a priority. 💚
