New gas hearth appliances usually feature electronic ignition systems, but the wide variety of options can overwhelm installers and technicians. Hands-on training for all models is impractical due to logistics and costs, making it difficult to cover everything in one class.

To tackle this, NFI has created a new electronic ignition class with Southeast HPBA. This class will explain the four main types of electronic ignition systems from Dexen, SIT, and Maxitrol, using a blend of classroom instruction and video clips for clarity.

The class consists of four sections: an introduction and basic skills followed by dedicated sections for each brand. Participants can choose to take all sections or select only what’s relevant to them. The entire class lasts 2 hours, with each section being approximately 30 minutes long, offering 0.5 Technical CEUs for each.

The course can be found in the HE@RTH Online Training Subscription Catalog by searching for “Electronic Ignition” or course number 8520.

HPBA WELCOMES NEW GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT LEAD

HPBA announces a new addition to its senior leadership team: Jason Tolleson joins HPBA as Senior Director of Government Affairs, after serving as Government Affairs Manager for Harley-Davidson Motor Company since 2012.

At Harley-Davidson, Tolleson was responsible for engaging public officials and advocating for policy changes at all levels of government throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America. During his tenure, Tolleson served with numerous national and international trade associations, promoting industry initiatives and safety campaigns.

Previously, Tolleson worked as Government and Public Affairs Manager for an industry association representing the automotive aftermarket industry. In addition to helping pass several legislative initiatives across the country, he also played a key role in establishing a state legislative caucus to support these efforts.

“Jason has impressive experience in an industry with similar challenges to those we face at HPBA,” said HPBA President & CEO Jill McClure. “His track record and professionalism made him the frontrunner throughout our search process, and we’re excited to welcome him to the team.”

Tolleson started his government affairs career on Capitol Hill working for a congressman from his home state of Hawaii, then with a Washington, D.C., lobbying firm, representing local governments. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a focus on U.S. government and constitutional law.
