These attributes should characterize life in our neighborhoods, too; yet, there is a disparity of need that surrounds us in our communities and in the global community beyond. God’s love is the transforming agent and it commissions each one of us to become part of transforming social dimensions toward justice and peace, toward the values of the Kingdom of God. God has called his people to actively, strategically and powerfully utilize their capacities to share his peace, stand for his justice, and demonstrate his transforming grace. LaPaz Summit will give a fresh Kingdom perspective on the purpose, principles and practices of ministry and mission among those on the margins of the human community. At LaPaz, activists, practitioners, theologians, and scholars will challenge the Church in this missional vision. Mobilizing for justice begins with a theological framework, shared values, and effective community development and community organizing models. The Church needs transformational ministry models that hinge on a vision of a just world, meet the felt-needs of those being served, and strive for human progress and sustainable development. LaPaz Summit is sponsored by Azusa Pacific University-School of Theology; Compassion Creates Change; Clergy Community Coalition; Fuller Theological Seminary; Los Angeles District Church of the Nazarene; and, San Gabriel Valley Housing and Homeless Coordinating Council.
