In California, we are blessed to have movement leaders like Camila Chavez and Dolores Huerta. What an amazing mother-daughter team that also includes so much of their family!
Dolores co-founded the United Farm Workers with Cesar Chavez. Her daughter Camila Chavez is the executive director of the Dolores Huerta Foundation, whose mission is inspire and organize communities to build volunteer organizations empowered to pursue social justice.
April 10 is Dolores Huerta Day. There’s plenty of time to prepare. Find a student-friendly curriculum at Dolores Huerta.org.
“I want students to get a sense of their own empowerment and the things that they can do to make the world a better place.” - Dolores Huerta

These are the faces of HOPE. 💕
🐣💵❣️ We are full steam ahead to get up and running for our kids. Baby Bonds—aka HOPE Accounts, in California—are small pots of money for kids that grow over time. They will help undo the racial wealth gap. And they’ll let youth invest in bright futures.
In California, we are the first in the nation to have a baby bonds program at this scale. Our HOPE Accounts will support kids from families with little money who lost a parent or main caregiver to COVID, qualifying foster youth, and others.
Yesenia, Angelica, and Andrew repped the GRACE & at the HOPE Accounts planning committees in September.
Thanks so much to ’s LA office for hosting and lending support!
💔Our beloved Yesenia Jimenez's father died this weekend.
Yesenia is a crucial member of the GRACE family & a fierce advocate who brings her whole self to our work. We extend all our love & support.
Here's a chance to return the support she's given all of us. ⬇️💞⬇️
From Yesenia:
I write to you to share the tragic passing of my dad, Francisco Antonio Jimenez. My dad unexpectedly passed away in Tijuana, Mexico on Thursday, September 7th, 2023 while at work. Unfortunately, the circumstances of his passing have added additional stressors as our family makes arrangements from the United States. Our family is taking the necessary steps to transport our father’s remains to his native Maya lands in San Rafael La Independencia, Huehuetenango, Guatemala.
We welcome your prayers, condolences, and well wishes. Given the circumstances of my father’s passing, my siblings and I are kindly requesting communal financial support as we navigate multiple immigration systems to properly bury our dad. In community, I know we can move mountains and I thank you in advance for your support.

California needs a big policy rethink - Capitol Weekly OPINION - In a state as large and important as California, it makes little sense for us to continue allowing ourselves to be so vulnerable to the vagaries of each shifting budget cycle. Instead, it makes much more sense to develop a more strategic, long-term social investment approach.
