The Philadelphia Building Trades is proud to announce that we have chosen a new charity to support for the All Star Labor Classic, The Superhero Project- Non Profit Foundation
The Superhero Project- Non Profit Foundation is a local 501(c)3 organization that was founded by a local mother who delivered twin boys 8 weeks early and spent some time in the NICU. Through her fundraising efforts, she has managed to provide support and help to local families with premature babies, and has partnered with over 20 NICU’s - providing Angel Eye Cameras where parents and families can view their babies from home 24/7.
As the 2024 season kicks off, we are hopeful that this will be our best year yet!
This past Friday, the Philadelphia Building Trades partnered with Rock Ministries of Philadelphia to hand out 500 turkeys to the people of Kensington.
Exciting News! Yesterday we came together to celebrate a special moment - the renaming of 22nd Street, the street The Philadelphia AFL-CIO sits on to "Pat Eiding Way" in honor of a true local hero. Pat Eiding's dedication to the labor movement has helped make Philadelphia a better place.
Today was a very Historic day for the men and women of the Philadelphia Building Trades, and without question a very good day for the residents of Delco.
Today, the FIRST PLA in over 20 years in Delaware County was signed into action for the George W. Hill Correctional Facility Project.
A very special thanks goes to the Delaware County Council, and to all who had a hand in making this achievement possible.
This is the first of many future PLA’s for Delco.

Working with all our partners, and starting with the women & men of the trades, Governor Shapiro announced today that I-95 will open 6 lanes by end of this weekend.
Our Business Manager Ryan N. Boyer took the Governor on a tour to show the site and how far ahead of schedule we are.
Let's commemorate the past to build a better future.

The Philadelphia Building Trades had a press conference today with Governor Shapiro, Mayor Kenney, and other officials to discuss the rebuild of I-95.
Business Manager Ryan N. Boyer delivered the message of the day that WE are the best workforce in the WORLD, and we will work around the clock to complete this project safely, timely, and as clean as possible.

“When we give access to training and the opportunity to learn a skill that will allow you ... to take care of your family and to be self-sufficient, it is the greatest tool that we have and that we will put to good use to reduce violence in our city,” Parker said.
Building trades paint a picture of a big future, with Philadelphia at the center “When you look back 10 years from now ... you’re going to see whole communities changed,” NABTU president Sean McGarvey said.

Today, the Philadelphia Building Trades welcomed NABTU President Sean McGarvey to update the City’s Political, Business, and Labor Leaders on President Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” Infrastructure Program.
In the words of Philadelphia’s Democratic Nominee for Mayor, Cherelle Parker “skilled labor isn’t cheap, but cheap labor isn’t skilled.”
Philadelphia Building Trades along with Senator Steve Santarsiero held an informative event discussing Responsible Contractor Ordinances and how it protects the tax payer on their construction projects. Great questions & answers with local elected officials along with representatives from various building & construction trades unions.

PBTC attended an event today hosted by CHUBB, the world's largest publicly traded property and casualty insurance company where they unveiled their plan for a new Philadelphia office that will occupy a state-of-the-art building to be constructed at 2000 Arch Street. This project will bring over 3,000 jobs to our city on a $430+ million construction project.
Great event this morning with Philadelphia Building Trades, Contractors and Elected Officials talking about protecting the taxpayer on their construction projects with responsible contracting ordinances otherwise known as RCO’s. We look forward to continuing this conversation and educating all on this topic.
