“The Command Center to Bring Women Home” is part documentary, part creative storytelling about an imagined space where formerly incarcerated women work for care and justice together.
Hello all! The entire library will be closing early TOMORROW (Friday, November 10th) starting at 2:00 p.m. in observance of Veterans Day! The Teen Center will reopen at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13th and, as usual, the rest of the building will open a little earlier that day at 9:00 a.m.

El Field Teen Center se une a la celebración del Mes de la Herencia Hispana con el estreno de su nueva colección en español. Ahora podrás disfrutar de novelas, biografías, manga y novelas gráficas en tu idioma y de fácil accesibilidad.
El centro de jóvenes expande su colección al idioma español con una variedad de géneros y autores. Esta iniciativa reconoce la necesidad de incluir recursos que reflejen los intereses de los adolescentes de Philadelphia en su idioma.
¡La nueva colección cuenta con más de 200 títulos! Todos podrán tener acceso a manga, novelas gráficas, no ficción y libros de autores reconocidos. Este es solo el comienzo en lo que será una nueva oferta de programación para nuestra población hispanohablante. La idea detrás de esta iniciativa es fomentar la lectura y que los adolescentes se reconecten con sus raíces a través del idioma. Al momento, la colección contará con traducciones pero está buscando expandir a incluir libros que hayan sido publicados originalmente en español.

The Field Teen Center joins the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month with the opening of its new Spanish-language collection. Now you can enjoy novels, biographies, manga and graphic novels in your language!
The Tteen Ccenter expands its collection to the Spanish language with a variety of genres and authors. This initiative recognizes the need to include resources that reflect the interests of Philadelphia teens in their language.
The new collection features over 200 titles! Everyone will be able to access manga, graphic novels and non-fiction books by well-known authors. This is just the beginning in what will be a new programming plan for our Spanish-speaking population. The idea behind this initiative is to encourage reading and for teenagers to reconnect with their roots through language. At the moment, the collection will feature translations but is looking to expand to include books that were originally published in Spanish.
Social media can have a dark side, and these three books are putting it on display! A girl who only gets to talk to her crush when she’s pretending to be somebody else, a competition for millions, a fight for survival and more await you inside.
There’s never a bad time to play but October is an especially good time! Ask us about this spooky haunted house board game name time you’re at the Teen Center.
In observance of Indigenous People’s Day, the Free Library will be closing at 2pm on Friday, 10/6/23, and will remain closed through Monday, 10/9/23. Parkway Central will reopen at 9am on Tuesday the 10th, and the Teen Center will open at 11am. Turn in sound for a music recommendation from a First Nations electronic music group! 🎧
Did you know we have a typewriter at the Teen Center? (We’re borrowing it from !) Try it out!
Saturday, October 28th is the Teen Social Justice Festival! This is an opportunity not just to learn about social Justice topics but to spend time outside doing autumnal activities and getting your face painted! There are also opportunities for teens with social Justice knowledge to table in exchange for a Visa gift card. Email [email protected] for more information.
Name a more iconic pair! Did you know September is library card signup month? You can obviously use your card to check out great print books like this one, but you can also use it to check out ebooks and audiobooks, study a language, access academic journals, use library wifi at a branch, or make a reservation for a public computer. Visit a branch near you to get a card today (and make sure to bring an ID and proof of address with you! See freelibrary.org for details).

The library is closing early on Friday in observance of Labor Day! The building will close at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 9/1/23. The building will reopen on Tuesday, 9/5/23. As usual, the library itself will open at 9:00 a.m., and the Teen Center will open at 11:00 a.m. We wish you a fun and safe weekend!

For fans of role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), Field Teen Center presents a silly new gaming experience. Join us for a game of Honey Heist! Teens ages 12-18 will have the opportunity to play as a criminal bear on a quest to steal some honey.
This single-session adventure will begin on the ground floor or Parkway Central Library at 2:00pm and last until 4:30 pm.
Spots will be limited! Aspiring criminal bears are encouraged to reserve a spot by emailing [email protected] or calling 215-686-5395.
