Internship opportunity!

Therapy Center of Philadelphia (therapycenterofphila.org) is a non-profit that nurtures individual well-being and personal growth for women, non-binary, and trans people by providing high-quality, affordable psychotherapeutic services grounded in anti-racism and q***r/trans liberation. We are actively in our application cycle for our clinical internship program rooted in social justice, open to therapy students in their final year of a Masters level training program in mental health. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds, with a special emphasis on supporting those from marginalized communities, including women, non-binary, and trans individuals.

We are excited to receive applications from students who identify as AAPI (Asian/Asian-American Pacific Islander), AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, & Pacific Islander), South Asian, Desi, SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African), or another part of the Asian diaspora to practice with and receive clinical supervision with our API social work supervisor. Happy TDOV! Credit:

03/31/2024

🌈✨ Happy Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV)! ✨🌈

Today, we celebrate the courage, resilience, and achievements of transgender, non-binary, and gender expansive people around the globe. TCP stands with you in solidarity, honoring your journey and affirming your right to live authentically and freely.

🏳️‍⚧️ In a world that too often overlooks the unique challenges faced by the TGNC community, TDOV is a vital reminder of the importance of visibility, representation, and advocacy. It's a day to uplift those voices that society has tried to silence and to shine a light on the beauty and diversity of gender experiences.

At TCP, we're committed to providing a safe, inclusive space where everyone can access care that acknowledges and celebrates their true selves. Our services are designed with the understanding that everyone's path is unique, and we strive to be allies in your journey toward healing and self-discovery.

🌟 As we honor this day, let's remember that visibility is not just about being seen—it's about being recognized, respected, and valued for who we are. Let's pledge to continue fighting against discrimination and to work towards a world where every person can thrive without fear.

💙💗🤍💗💙 To our TGNC clients, friends, and community members: Your strength inspires us every day. You are seen, you are important, and you are loved.

As Women's History Month comes to an end, TCP is reflecting on our commitment to women's mental and emotional wellness. Founded in 1972 as the Feminist Therapy Collective, we've been pioneering a feminist approach to therapy for over 50 years.

Our journey began by creating a safe, inclusive space for women to explore their struggles and aspirations free from oppression and judgment. Over the decades, we've made intentional efforts to ensure our services are affirming and accessible for all women, dedicating particular attention to the intersectional needs of women of color, q***r women, and transgender women who confront compounded barriers.

Through our feminist lens, we recognize how societal gender norms, discrimination, and systemic inequalities profoundly impact women's well-being. Our therapists are trained to understand and address these complexities.

Join us as we celebrate our legacy and continued commitment to empowering women on their journey toward healing.

Together, we honor the unique journeys and contributions of every woman in our community. Let's commit to uplifting each other's voices, advocating for equality, and fostering a world where every woman can thrive.

For immediate release:

The LGBTQ+ organizations and the organizations that serve LGBTQ+ individuals signing below stand in solidarity with Celena Morrison-McLean and Darius McLean, who are our valued employees, Board members, and community stakeholders.

First, we want to update our communities that Celena Morrison-McLean and Darius McLean have returned home safely following Saturday's arrest on the Vine Street Expressway in Center City Philadelphia. We will now be turning our attention towards supporting them following the terrible abuse they suffered. We are grateful to the many community members and leaders who stepped into action to ensure that Darius and Celena were able to get home as quickly as possible and that their families were kept up to date.

While we await further investigation, we want to be clear: We believe that actions by State Police from the Belmont Barracks this weekend can be seen as yet another example in the long institutional history of over-policing and disproportional outcomes against Black, Brown, and LGBTQ+ people, particularly Black trans people.

Our organizational leadership will be following up with both Governor Shapiro and Mayor Parker to ensure that our voices are heard and that Celena Morrison-McLean, Darius McLean, and our communities receive proper transparency and accountability regarding this traumatic traffic stop and arrest in the heart of our own city.

In honor of Black History Month, TCP wants to recognize and celebrate the vital contributions of Black mental health professionals who are currently making history.

Black psychologists, counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, and community advocates have worked tirelessly to address the unique mental health needs and experiences of the Black community. Their groundbreaking work has expanded mental health services, promoted culturally competent care, advanced research, and given voice to issues impacting Black mental wellbeing. We are highlighting just a few of the inspiring achievements of Black mental health leaders who have made a difference.

The journey towards mental wellness equity continues, but during Black History Month, TCP wants to express our deep gratitude for all those whose work is dedicated to the Black community. Thank you for your groundbreaking contributions.

During Black History Month and throughout the year, TCP is committed to advancing racial equity and dismantling anti-Blackness in our organization. We believe that Black voices and perspectives are essential, which is why we proudly have Black leaders, our Executive Director, Marquita Bolden; and Board President, Jaymie Campbell, guiding our equity efforts.

As we reflect on the rich history and contributions of Black Americans this month, we want to share how we actively work toward progress every day. One way we prioritize Black empowerment and liberation beyond February is by facilitating regular racial affinity groups. These spaces allow our staff of color to come together, process their experiences as BIPOC people working in the mental health field, and receive communal support. Our white staff also utilize regular caucusing to do internal work around allyship.

Our Change Team, an internal committee with majority people of color, focuses year-round on identifying areas where we can better embed racial equity principles and take action against racism at TCP.

There is still much to do, but we are dedicated year-round to justice and empowerment specifically for Black people. We strive for TCP to always be a place where Black people feel welcomed, affirmed in their identities, valued for their contributions, and able to thrive. We reaffirm our commitment to Black liberation at TCP and in our broader community.

"Own your magic, walk in your purpose, and rock your truth."

This Black History Month, let's celebrate the magic, purpose, and truth of our community. We continue the legacy of our ancestors boldly embracing our talents, pursuing our dreams, and living authentically.

Our Black stories and voices matter. Our truth will be heard. ✊🏾

Shout-out to for putting on a fantastic holiday party last night at the newly opened Switch House at the Battery. It was great connecting with so many inspiring entrepreneurs, business owners, nonprofit orgs, and government officials in and serving the LGBTQ+ community. Between the tasty food and lively conversations, the positive energy in the room was infectious. Kudos to IBA leadership for bringing us all together during this holiday season. We look forward to being part of more events that support and empower our vibrant LGBTQ+ business community. Wishing everyone joy and success in the New Year!
