Pantries Start to Recommit to Client Choice - Food Bank News 06/29/2024

We are steadily working toward a full client choice model and plan to be open by September 1st of this year for pantry shopping. While the drive-thru model worked during the pandemic, I agree that it has worn thin. Pre-packed boxes of staples don't offer our clients the dignity of choice, and waiting in the car line in all kinds of weather for hours wastes precious fuel. The transactional process of handing out pre-packed food also means that the relationships we develop over time with our neighbors who frequent the pantry tend to suffer. As Pennridge FISH continues to grow, we see the return to a shopping experience as being a benefit to those we serve. We could use your prayers as we make this change as we all know change is not easy, even when it's necessary.

Pantries Start to Recommit to Client Choice - Food Bank News Like many food pantries, Interfaith Food Pantry Network of Morris Plains, N.J., turned to drive-through distribution during the pandemic. While the drive-throughs were efficient, the pantry’s interactions with clients started to feel hollow to Carolyn Lake, Executive Director. Some clients tried t...

Just a reminder... we begin re-registration on Monday, July 1st. :)

Many thanks to Coach McCormick and the 11th grade girls from the Perkasie Knights Basketball Club for mulching and weeding out front of our building in the spring. A big thank you also to Lapp's for the donation of mulch.

We are SO grateful for this amazing and fun group from Souderton Brethren in Christ (BIC) who helped us clean the pantry and clothing room on "Serve Sunday." By the time they left, the place looked and smelled great, and our volunteers felt like we received a great big hug from this generous and caring church family. If your church group would like to serve at FISH, please contact me in the office and we'll try to make it happen! 215-257-7616...ask for Paige. Many hands make light work! πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ«Ά

Interesting Bucks County and State food insecurity statistics from Philabundance. Another reason to continue to support your local food pantries throughout the year. Thank you SO MUCH to all who faithfully donate food and other needed items to Pennridge FISH. You are making a difference for more than 600 households in Pennridge School District. πŸπŸ‡πŸ₯‘πŸ«‘πŸŒ½

To our Pennridge neighbors who utilize our food pantry and other services, please be aware that yearly re-registration begins July 1st! Because we distribute State and Federal food options, we are required by the State of PA to have clients sign new self-declaration forms each year beginning in July. We also require you to bring your photo ID/license or passport, ID for children in the household, and a recent utility bill, or your updated auto registration or insurance card as proof of residency in the Pennridge School District. Don't hesitate to call the office if you have any concerns. Thank you for arriving prepared so we can keep the car line moving. 😘
