Emily had been feeling off for several years, when her thyroid was finally checked. They found several nodules, and removed the thyroid.
Unfortunately, since the removal, she has been losing her hair.
She says, "I am feeling better but my hair is falling out so I am not feeling good about my appearance. I need a wig to help me. I would feel and look more like myself."
"Emily said through happy tears. She's so grateful for the blessing of funding from your non profit. She feels beautiful once again and is so thankful that you gals provided her funds to get a beautiful wig."
One of our most frequently asked questions is do we accept gently used wigs?
The answer is no. Unfortunately, we do not. We provide financial assistance to all our applicants to help purchase the wig they want! Here are some amazing places that will accept gently used wigs!
American Cancer Society, Reba’s Vision, and Face in the Mirror.

Introducing our AMAZING, Executive Director, Kendall Chester!
1. I'm originally from Cincinnati, Ohio but I've lived in Arizona for a little over 20 years now. However, my favorite food is still Skyline Chili and nothing beats Graeter's ice cream - if you know, you know.
2. I'm a mom to three amazing kids, ages 8, 5, and 3. Being a mom is my favorite job.
3. Outside of Wigged Out, I also am a member of the Women's Board of the Steele Children's Research Center at the University of Arizona, known as PANDA, ! Meet Kimberly!
Kimberly is a teacher with four young children and four months ago she had a seizure and learned that she had a brain tumor. She then learned that her diagnosis changed to a glioma after more in-depth pathology returned and she will have to shave all remaining hair to start to use a device called Optune.
She says "After I was changed from an astrocytoma to a glioblastoma I struggled with knowing I have to shave my head every three or four days to allow the probes that sit on my head to have any barrier between it and my scalp. I will never have hair again in my life and I've had a hard few weeks coping with that. I know it's just hair but it's part of what I look like and I really would like some normalcy."
Today is ! When you are looking for local nonprofits to give back to, we would love your consideration.
Here are some facts about Wigged Out:
- We have helped over 2,500 women, children and men gain a sense of self back by providing them with financial assistance in purchasing a hair piece or accessory.
- We were established in 2012 and just celebrated our 10 year anniversary last year!
- We are currently partnered up with local wig boutiques in the valley to help spread awareness of our mission & to make it an easy process for our applicants.
- As we continue to grow as an organization we keep our overhead small so the majority of all donations can go directly to our applicants.

Meet Susan!
Susan was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July 2022.
She says, "I was aware the loss would happen but unprepared with how fast and complete the hair loss was and how early in the chemo process it happened. I was also surprised at how much of my overall confidence as a woman was tied up with my hair which became more and more of an issue for me as my hair disappeared.
I am hoping to return to my normal life and, most importantly, look normal to friends and family. My appearance today screams to all "𝑰 𝑨𝑴 𝑺𝑰𝑪𝑲" "𝑰 𝑨𝑴 𝑫𝒀𝑰𝑵𝑮", and I want those I'm with to enjoy our time together without the uninvited issue of cancer monopolizing the room. I still am many things 𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓲𝓭𝓮𝓼 𝓫𝓮𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓪 𝓬𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓻 𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓿𝓲𝓿𝓸𝓻 and I want to concentrate on returning to that person for my family."
Meet Randall Smalley, Board Member & Golf Chair.
“I am honored to be a member of a such a great charity organization and really enjoy my board role with Wigged Out.” -Randall
3 facts about me:
💫I love golf, so it was natural to help Wigged Out as Chair of the golf tournament. It’s an incredible community and growing this event through the efforts of Charity means the world to me as my Mother went through hair loss from Cancer and the cause and support is close to my heart.
💫I love family, grew up in a family of 4 that was very close to the Kellers and other members of the Wigged Out team and now have 3 kids of my own. Fun fact: Kate our social media lead and marketing head has helped take care of my children and guide them before taking on a larger role in her own business and wigged out. I grew up with the Keller family and given my sister’s close friendship with Chelsea and these ladies, it’s a natural connection to be with them through Wigged Out!
💫I love to help, since I was younger I got involved with local efforts, but as I got older saw the opportunity to get more involved in the community and being on all women led team at Wigged as the only male for such a great cause has been very rewarding! I hope to help continue to grow the charity in the future and do big things with our fantastic team of ladies!!

Meet Josie!
Josie was diagnosed with Alopecia in 2015.
"Being a school teacher with Alopecia really affects my confidence. Especially when children ask me what is wrong with my hair. The emotional stress this has on me makes me cry knowing that I don't feel like a beautiful woman…
A wig improves my life dramatically because I feel like a beautiful woman who shines from the inside out. It gives me the confidence to feel like I can give 100 percent of myself without feeling embarrassed or sad because I have no hair."
