Hi Everyone,
Tonight’s GBM meeting for NSCS is canceled.
Additionally, this Saturday, October 26th, is our next Adopt A Block event. If you are interested in attending, email Laura ([email protected]). We will be meeting in Towers lobby at 10:10 AM and will head over to the facility together. It only takes one hour, and you can log 3 hours of service for attending! There are also free coffee and donuts.
Erika is still looking for about 6 more students interested in being pen pals for students at the Barack Obama academy. Email Erika ([email protected]) if you are interested in being a pen pal! (super low-commitment; short letter to pen pal every week. Counts towards event points each time you write a letter). Instructions on how to obtain the required clearances are posted on our page – they only take about 10 minutes to obtain ALL of them, and they are FREE for volunteers!
Please reach out with any questions you may have. See you next week!
Just to reiterate from Caleb's email: Tonight we will host our first professional development event of the semester! There will be a presentation on the OCC at the beginning of the meeting, so be sure to be there on time so you don't miss it.
Additionally, you will get not 3, but 11 POINTS for attending tonight's meeting! (3 for regular meeting attendance + 8 for attending the professional development event). Added bonus: FREE PIZZA!! See you all in 229 Cathy at 9 PM! :)
Interested in volunteering through our PACE program, either as a tutor or pen pal? You'll need 3 (FREE) volunteer clearances to do so:
- PA Criminal Background Check (ACT 34)
-PA Child Abuse (ACT 33)
-FBI Criminal Background Check (ACT 73) **only required if you have not lived in PA for the past 10 years**
Attached is a document that tells you how to get these clearances if you are unsure! Pen Pal assignments will take place at our meeting NEXT week: Monday, September 30th, so please try to have them in by then. Send PDFs of your clearances to Erika, and reach out to her if you need any help getting them.
Thanks so much to everyone that came out for our first meeting of the semester. If you were unable to attend, please follow the link at the bottom or scan this QR code and fill out our welcome survey! (Can be scanned from Snapchat or any QR reader app)
