THIS PITT DAY OF GIVING, SUPPORT THE WORK WE DO AT THE ASIAN STUDIES CENTER
February 27th is Pitt Day of Giving, the University of Pittsburgh’s annual drive to make a bigger impact in our communities. Each year, the Center sponsors dozens of events including scholarly panels, student language groups, films, and k-12 club visits. It also funds students and faculty studying Asia and works with the Office of Global Experiences to help create educational, fulfilling study-abroad semesters for undergraduates in diverse places, from Kyoto to the Himalayas. If you would like to help support our programming, donate at the link in the bio ! Thank you for your continued support 🥳
Want to learn more about Asian American representation in history? Join our book discussion group of Yunte Huang's Anna May Wong biography DAUGHTER OF THE DRAGON. Wong was the first Asian American actress in Hollywood. Her decades-long career, as well as her foray into European films, speaks the challenges that many Asian American actors have faced in Hollywood and also to the question of Asian American erasure in Hollywood history. We will be providing copies of the book and refreshments!
