Embrace winter by celebrating cross-country skiing at the Minnesota Nordic Ski Opener! Skiers of all abilities and ages are invited to kick off winter with free skiing, free ski rental equipment and free mini lessons. Participate in the Ski Tour with routes for the whole family. All activities are held outside, both on and off the snow, so dress for the weather!
* Free Nordic skiing on Elm Creek Park Reserve’s manufactured snow loop
* Free Nordic ski rentals, including sit-skis for adapted skiers
* Free Cross-country Classic Technique mini-lessons by Three Rivers Park instructors (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
* Free Cross-country Skate Technique mini-lessons by The Loppet Foundation instructors (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
*Ski with the University of Minnesota's Goldy Gopher (9:30-10:30 a.m.)
* Minnesota Youth Ski League Kids Area (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

You can also register for the Skaði’s Chase — 8K, 4K or 2K, but there are registration fees for the race.

We're still beaming about the turnout at Summerbration this year! Thanks to Cindy Piper, who is on our Board of Directors and Co-Chaired the event. Last night our board president Don Winter and executive director Chris Boyer were thrilled to present a check to Three Rivers Park District commissioners for $38,300 to help build the new immersive children’s exhibit at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park of Three Rivers Park District. This money was raised during our recent Summerbration event, THANK YOU to everyone who attended Summerbration and donated, because of your remarkable generosity we’re together introducing children to the wonders of nature and outdoor learning.
