When babies have room to move they assume more ideal positions for birth. This unique yoga style enhances and supports the bodywork developed for expectant parents by Carol Gray. The concept of maternal mobility making space for babies receives little attention in our culture, but is vitally important to fetal development and birth outcomes.

One in four stillbirths is preventable. Black women are more than twice as likely to have a stillbirth than white women. When President Biden signs this bill, states will be able to use existing federal funds for research, awareness and effective stillbirth interventions. The US lags behind other wealthy countries in stillbirth prevention.

A Simple Way to Save Premature Babies 11/22/2023

Back in the day I was a homebirth midwife. Cutting the cord was so far down on my to-do list after a baby got born! Of course, all of our equipment was portable. No need to take a baby somewhere if they needed help to start breathing. It takes a long time (longer than two minutes) for all of the baby's blood in their placenta and cord to reach them. It keeps moving toward the baby even after the placenta detaches and the cord stops pulsing. As the blood vessels in the cord collapse it ratchets the last drops toward the little one. It's important to wait.

A Simple Way to Save Premature Babies Waiting two minutes to sever the umbilical cord after birth raises the chances that a premature infant will survive, new research shows.

Opinion | The U.S. should never have another baby formula shortage 10/08/2022
