Get your Saturdays going with Jessica. Yoga clicked for Jessica when she started delving into yoga philosophy and meditation. Once she realized that yoga asana is a way to calm the mind and get in touch with the sacred, it took on much more meaning than just exercise or stretching. Yoga has since been an important core part of Jessica's life. She studied at the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico in the fall of 2018.

We are so excited to welcome Ash Dahl to the studio!

Come pause thought through movement with Ash on Saturday evenings. In this class, students will synchronize their breathe through movement creating a dynamic flow that is both energizing and meditative. All postures are accessible, with modifications provided to deepen the practice and others offered to give some ease depending on how you're feeling on any particular day. Ash will generally model all asanas, so even if it's your first yoga class you'll be able to follow along!

Ash has been practicing yoga since 2015, and began teaching in 2020 after completing their 200 hour teacher training from YoYoYogi in the Pearl District. As of 2024 they are completing their 500 hour training. While their classes are movement oriented, you can expect an emphasis on breathwork and ways to bring your yoga practice off of the mat. Outside of yoga and teaching, Ash loves the simple, grounded things in life. Having a few cups of tea in the morning with friends, taking their dog to the lake, foraging for edibles and medicinal plants in the woods and playing board games with their wife. They also practice and teach tai chi and hapkido martial arts as a way to further cultivate their prana, qi or ki.

Kerrie Hawkes has been teaching yoga for nearly two decades. She brings a wealth of information to help her students feel alive and engaged in their bodies, no matter their ability level. Stephanie has been teaching yoga since 2014, graduating from East West College in 2010. In addition to yoga, Stephanie is an experienced massage therapist and offers different wellness workshops for yogis, clients, and anyone looking to learn more about self care, their body, and how it works. She has a vast knowledge of how the body can feel when muscles have been under or over-worked. This allows her to meet the needs of each student's body during every class.

Stephanie went into massage therapy and the healing arts to help people relax and bring both their body and mind into the current moment. She feels like this world pushes us so hard to be our best at any and all expense, that we forget to take the time to focus on what we need to nourish ourselves.

Come practice with Stephanie on Sundays and Tuesdays! Choose your own adventure as she teaches both a Power Vinyasa and Deep Stretch back-to-back. Or stay for both!

Allison Kirley is a free-spirited, joy seeking, nature-loving, spiritual ju**ie and hula hoop dance enthusiast. She is on a twisty, non-linear journey following and discovering her soul's purpose. She has been intuitively led to practices that ground her and help her connect to her body and calm her busy mind.

Allison teaches a slow vinyasa class on Wednesdays at 12pm. She is a certified yoga teacher, health coach, and a licensed massage therapist. Allison has personally used all the modalities that she practices and they have helped her navigate her human experience journey thus far. She is honored you are here and can’t wait to share her work with you.

We are so excited to welcome Julie Collura to our studio for a special workshop! Julie is a social worker, musician, and expressive arts therapist. She believes that everyone is innately creative and that each person has within them what they need to heal and change. She uses the practices of movement, visual art, music, writing, and mindfulness as therapeutic tools to initiate healing and change. Since this work is based on the creative process and not the resulting product, no background or training in the arts is required to benefit.

If you are seeking a knowledgeable and challenging yet accessible teacher, look no further than Kerrie Hawkes! On Mondays and Fridays, Kerrie leads students through an invigorating and deep yoga practice. Kerrie has been teaching yoga for nearly two decades and has intently studied three different styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Iyengar and Desikachar. She is a 500-hour certified teacher and will soon be completing an 850-hour training to become a Certified Yoga Therapist. Kerrie believes that yoga is for everyone and seeks to nurture an environment where students can truly build a practice.

On Fridays, Kerrie's Level 1 Vinyasa leads students into a culminating final peak pose that is uniquely expressed by every body, with or without props.

On Mondays, find a deeper level of practice with Kerrie's Level 2 Vinyasa through more inversions, arm balances, sun salutations, and challenging holds/poses.

For over a decade, Stacy Tumarkin has been in awe of the clarity, devotion, and opportunities for self-reflection yoga brings to her life. As she deepened her practice, Stacy has studied with Rusty Wells, Luke Ketterhagen, Noah Mazé, Jason Crandell, and Yoga Medicine. At Shanti Om, Stacy's classes blend creative and fun sequencing with a healthy dose of challenge. Stacy loves sharing the gift of yoga with every student.

Come by on Tuesdays (tomorrow!) for Stacy's Aligned Vinyasa Flow class, an active, vinyasa-style class linking breath and movement to build a graceful, evolving sequence of hatha yoga asanas—all set to an up beat, eclectic playlist! Ayurveda has been India's traditional medical system for over 5,000 years. According to the Cleveland Clinic, an estimated 1.2 billion people in India use some form of traditional Ayurvedic medicine to maintain health and wellness. By balancing the energies in the body through exericse, food, herbs, and more, Ayurveda specialists help support people's health.

Bhakti Purvine, Shanti Om founder & instructor, is a Certified Ayurveda Wellness Practitioner and has been studying Ayurveda for over 20 years in the US and India. For over twelve years, Bhakti Purvine has been offering the practice of yoga to communities in both Virginia and Portland, Oregon. As the founder of Shanti Om, Bhakti helped grow the studio into a collective of passionate and unique teachers who each share their style and wisdom to the community. Now as an instructor, Bhakti teaches throughout the week at Shanti Om, bringing a gentle and meditative approach to all her classes. As a Certified Ayurveda Wellness Practitioner, Bhakti will often share Ayurvedic lessons to her students between asanas.

Karen Jyothi Mertens trained as a yoga instructor right here in our very own studio! Yoga has brought Karen many gifts--mindfulness, strength, and balance--and she hopes to now share those gifts with her greater community.

Hatha Flow yoga is a perfect fit for Karen's teaching style. Her classes center the importance of connecting our mind, body, & breathe, the ability to undergo challenge without strain, and the opportunity to access ease & comfort.

Amelia first began exploring her relationship with her body through dance. In 2012, she found her body was speaking to her in a subtle language. So began her devotion to yoga as she embarked on her practice to find out what her body had to say.

On Thursdays (today!!!), Amelia shares and offers a hatha flow to our community. With a somatic lens and yoga asana shapes, students can bring awareness and curiosity to the subtle layers of their bodies that are asking to be known and witnessed to. This 75-minute class will guide you to bring your intention and breath to a movement practice at the pace of your own noticing. Amelia aims for a balance of effort and ease and allows for heat and rest. The last part of class will explore restful shapes and an invitation for our minds to follow. This full body class is inspired to bring wakefulness to our embodied presence.

We are so excited to welcome our newest instructor to the studio, Alexly! You may recognize Alexly at some of our classes throughout the week or at the University of Portland where she also teaches. Starting this Monday (tomorrow!!!) she will be offering an all-levels Monday hatha flow at 12pm.

This is a fantastic opportunity to start with a class from Day 1. Enjoy the opportunity to voice your needs, get to know your instructor and fellow yogis, and to shape the energy of this offering.

When Jess realized that yoga asana is a way to calm the mind and get in touch with the sacred, yoga took on much more meaning than just exercise or stretching. Before, Jess had practiced yoga on and off for years, but yoga is now an important core part of her life.

Jess will be teaching her Saturday 12pm Vinyasa Flow class at the studio! Come for a moderate flow moving your whole body and feel into your weekend. We also have Feel Good, Gentle, and Hatha classes.

Whether the sun is shinning in the peak of summer or the moon is high in the depths of winter, students come to Dria's Monday night prana + yin class ready to meet their bodies and minds. Dria's class is a complementary balance of flow and rest. Movement and stillness. Within these moments are glimpses of both tension and peace. An edge and a center.

Dria is teaching a new course once a month at the studio including this Sunday(!!!!) on inversions. Come find her in a new perspective-taking class.
