2 Timothy 1:8-9
“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”

WPU staff, faculty, administrators and alumni welcomed students back home at the 2024/25 Convocation ceremony today in McGuire Auditorium. It was a special ceremony for Ed and Jane Whitehead--alums who attended their last Convocation here in 1964. The message to students was a divine one--we are all doing the work of the Kingdom here! Board of Trustees Member Michael Guzman gave the keynote address. He encouraged students to put these four important items on their back-to-school list:
1. Encounter the presence of Jesus. 2. Learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. 3. Find friends that are running after the same thing. 4. Discern your Kingdom calling.
Students were encouraged to make a difference, chase their dreams and walk this educational journey united in purpose.
"For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations." Psalms 100:5
Please join us tomorrow--Tuesday, August 27th-- for this sacred event and bless our students as they begin this year With Purpose! Doors open at 10am. You won't want to miss some special alumni guests. It will be 60 years since Ed and Jane Whitehead's last convocation at Warner Pacific. Jane will be back to play piano at the event and Ed, Professor Emeritus since 2007, will be processing in with the faculty. The Whiteheads have a rich connection to Warner Pacific and to the Church of God. If you are an alum, don't forget to stop at the table in the McGuire Auditorium lobby for your special gift.
