The power outage incident at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is still ongoing. Our entire first alarm assignment along with our command staff is diligently working with multiple EMS agencies and Dutchess County coordinators to relocate critical patients. Currently patients are being queued and are being transported or have been transported to Mid Hudson Regional Hospital, Kingston Hospital, Danbury Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Westchester Medical Center. Central Hudson is also on scene assisting in any way they can. This does not appear to be a Central Hudson issue at this time.
We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our City 911 and Dutchess County 911 dispatchers. We have also had a large contingent of the Dutchess County ambulance agencies assisting in some way, and we thank them as well.
Your City of Poughkeepsie firefighters are always working for our community and providing the best service possible. This is an ongoing and complex scene, and we appreciate everyone’s support.
Please avoid the area around Vassar Hospital there is an on going power issue and an MCI has been declared at the hospital. Mutual aid ambulances are coming from the surrounding area.

The members of the City of Poughkeepsie PBA would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Chief Pape on his retirement after over 40 years of service to the City of Poughkeepsie. Chief Pape began his career as a dispatcher before joining the ranks as a patrolman in 1983. Chief Pape rose through the ranks and served in nearly every capacity possible in law enforcement. With previous assignments in Traffic, Community Policing, Emergency Services, the Neighborhood Recovery Unit, Detective Bureau and everything in between, Chief Pape’s experience is unmatched. Prior to his promotion to the Command Staff, Chief Pape was an active member of the PBA and served on the Executive Board. Upon his appointment to Chief of Police in 2016, Chief Pape served through some of the most turbulent times in recent memory and did so with fairness and integrity while always displaying steadfast support for the men and women of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
On behalf of the members of the City of Poughkeepsie PBA, congratulations on your well deserved retirement and best of luck in your future endeavors!

Linda and I would like to thank everyone- family, friends, and the members of the Poughkeepsie Fire Department, past and present, who came out to celebrate, posted, sent cards, notes, gifts and calls wishing me well on my retirement. I am so fortunate to be able to look back at a great career spent with some of the best people I have ever met. We would also like to thank many local businesses for all they have done for me, my family, and the Poughkeepsie Fire Department- the entire Rossi family, Emiliano’s, the Derby, Arlington Grill and Tavern 23. I want to extend a special thank you to Bill Johnson for documenting to the public what the PFD does best through his photography. Thank you all!
Group 3 redid Timbo’s famous mustache this week. But with running around 40 calls in their 24 it was covered in tire marks so G2 redid it again yesterday to make sure it was nice and clean for your anniversary brother. We love you Timbo and miss you. There aren’t many 24s on group 2 where your name and a story doesn’t come up still. The job is all younger now but you’re still here with us. #99
