Happy Holidays from the PAL!
The City of Poughkeepsie Police Athletic League would like to thank 911 Uniforms, Baroni Recycling and Mccabe and Mack Attorneys at Law for their generosity this holiday season. Their contributions as well as individual donations allowed us to give out almost 200 care packages to kids, as well as help out some families with their holiday wishes. We are truly grateful!

THIS SATURDAY!!!!
Officers Chisholm and Collins stopped by for Cocoa with a Cop at Morse Elementary School today and helped the kids build gingerbread houses!
The City of Poughkeepsie Police Athletic League sponsored a Paint and Sip for Poughkeepsie Middle School Children last night held at the public safety building. Sawdust and Glitter helped our kids paint beautiful empowering pieces of art. Amazing staff from the school, along with our female Police Officers, volunteered their time to come, bring food and work with the kids. Many of the kids and staff then went to the Middle School to celebrate student success! It was a positive evening for Poughkeepsie kids! Special thanks to Mrs Tucker for spearheading the idea and always dedicating her time and efforts for kids in PK! More pics to follow! Great work, kids!!!
In Lieu of doing "Adopt a Family" this year, we will be working on these care packages to send home with kids for the holiday break.
While some kids look forward to the break from school, this is not the case for everyone.
Suggestions are below but open to anything to brighten some holidays!
Gift cards in small denominations are welcome, even to get a treat at DD, a slice of pizza. A gingerbread house to work on.
Feel free to make your own collection at your workplace or school. Make your own bags or we can organize as well. I just need all items by Dec 19th.
I appreciate any and all support for the many amazing kids that need a little love for the holiday.
Our annual Dessert Drive Collection is underway! Drop off a dessert to be delivered to a deserving family in Poughkeepsie. Collection is TODAY from noon to 8pm at our Public Safety Building, 505 Main Street. Stop by and say hello to our officers from Community Policing and make someone else's holiday a little sweeter!
Each year, the Police Department hands out desserts the day before Thanksgiving.
The goal of this drive is to reward those children who are being recognized for being exceptional. Often in school, we overlook the kids who come in and do the "right thing." Good attendance, manners, kindness, great work ethic. These students have been chosen by staff at the schools to receive a surprise delivered by us.
And while we all look forward to spending the holidays with our families, not every child feels that way. School is a safe place for them with stability and structure. There are those children who prefer to be in school rather than a long break, for various reasons. We will also be stopping by some of those homes as well.
If you could help us out and donate a dessert or two, that would be very much appreciated. You can bring them to the public safety building, 505 Main, on Monday or Tuesday Noon-8pm
Thank you so much for your continued support
