Where is our concern for the unsaved? May God fill our hearts with more of Paul’s burden for the lost. So that we too would hear that word from God after laboring in prayer for people around us.
If we pray, “Lord, this home of mine is like a ship and some of the members on board are not safe. They’re in danger of perishing.” Wouldn’t you love to hear a word from God that He has saved them? Well then, labor in prayer for them! Have that concern for them that is greater than just your own rescue. Paul had earnestly prayed, and he received an answer. He couldn’t keep this hope he had received to himself.

The Word of God says that we will stand before Jesus Christ on His judgment seat. Paul stood before Festus on his judgment seat, and we will stand before Jesus on His judgment seat.

It means everything we do in this life matters. Sometimes there’s confusion or at least misunderstanding among Christians about this. You are not saved by your works. You are not rescued from sin and judgment by your moral performance. Your rescue is because of your faith connection with who Jesus is and what He’s done for you. That is your rescue. It is not your ability to rescue yourself.

But sometimes there’s a misunderstanding of that message, and I don’t want it to be unclear in anyone’s mind. You’re not being saved by works or good deeds; however, this does not mean for a moment that your moral life does not matter to God. It does matter to Him. You and I and everybody who names the name of Jesus Christ are going to stand before Jesus, and He is going to judge what kind of life we lived.

You don’t have to clean yourself up in order to come to God. Come to God, and He will clean you up. You don’t have to take a bath before you take a shower. Just jump in the shower. Jesus will cleanse you. You can come to Him just as you are.

You can come to God as a Jew or as a Gentile, as a foreigner or as a local, as a rich person or poor person, but you must come to Him through Jesus Christ.

Are you trusting in the fact that you are part of a people? Are you trusting in the fact that you keep the rules? Are you trusting in the fact that you participate in religious observances? That’s not enough. You’ll never make it that way. You have to trust in who Jesus is and what He did for you on the cross.
